Job Description
About SEEK
At SEEK, we’re committed to helping people live more fulfilling and productive working lives. Every decision we make – from product design to AI innovation – builds on that mission.
Our AI & Analytics division plays a crucial role in that journey, creating data‑driven solutions that connect millions of job seekers with opportunity and empower organisations worldwide. If you love tackling complex data challenges and turning information into impact, SEEK is the place to do it.
About the Team
The AI & Analytics Data Products team is at the heart of SEEK’s data strategy. We build high‑quality, reliable data assets that power insights, shape intelligent products, and enhance experiences for people and businesses across the SEEK Group.
You’ll join a collaborative, diverse, and highly skilled mix of senior and mid‑level data engineers, analytics engineers, solution designers, and data specialists – all working together to build scalable systems and drive innovation across SEEK’s data ecosystem.
About the Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and operating data pipelines and infrastructure that make SEEK’s ambition possible. You’ll work alongside our Staff Data Engineers and Data Modellers to analyse problems, design robust solutions, and ensure our data systems are secure, reliable, and optimised for scale.
You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership — from architecture and implementation to production operations — while lifting others through mentorship and technical leadership. This is a hands‑on opportunity to shape the future of data engineering at SEEK, contributing to products that actively improve people’s working lives.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and run big data processing pipelines that power SEEK’s analytics and AI products
- Build tools that manage and monitor data systems — improving quality, security, and lifecycle management
- Deploy and operate data infrastructure and services on Databricks and AWS
- Maintain system health — ensuring our platforms are secure, reliable, resilient, and cost‑effective
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, helping grow technical capability across the team
Qualifications
- Extensive experience delivering scalable, reliable data solutions in cloud production environments
- Expertise in big data frameworks (ideally Apache Spark on Databricks or AWS EMR), across both batch and streaming pipelines
- Strong software engineering foundation (CI/CD, testing, version control)
- Advanced SQL and database design skills, with a focus on performance and optimisation
- Proficiency in Python (Scala experience a bonus)
- In‑depth experience with Cloud Data Warehouses such as Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery
- Solid understanding of AWS Big Data services, including EMR, Athena, Glue, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CDK, Lambda, SNS/SQS/SSM
- Confident in end‑to‑end management of infrastructure, deployments, and monitoring
- Experience supporting BI, Analytics, Data Science, and AI/ML initiatives
