At SEEK's AI & Platform Services (AIPS), we are at the forefront of solving some of the most complex and rewarding challenges in the recruitment industry. Our diverse and innovative team, comprising data scientists, engineers, analysts, and more, is dedicated to delivering pioneering solutions that empower our internal partners and drive SEEK's products forward.

We're looking for a passionate and skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our crossfunctional team. If you're excited about using data to create meaningful impact and thrive in a collaborative environment, this role is for you!

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer within AIPS, you will be pivotal in enhancing our data ecosystem. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to build and optimize platforms that support AI/ML-powered services. Your work will not only influence hundreds of users across SEEK but also help shape the future of recruitment technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize data infrastructure and services on AWS, with a focus on DataOps and MLOps.
  • Design and automate data pipelines, ensuring high-quality data flow and monitoring.
  • Build and maintain secure, reliable, and cost-effective data systems.
  • Lead the deployment, operation, and support of cloud-based data processing solutions.
  • Mentor and grow the technical capabilities of junior engineers.
  • Support and solve for end users, providing best practices and resolving technical challenges.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in building and operating cloud-based data processing and warehousing solutions, with expertise in optimizing 'big data' pipelines and architectures.
  • Proficient in data processing technologies like Spark and PySpark, with advanced SQL skills and solid software engineering abilities, including coding, scripting, and database management.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code (Terraform), and experience with AWS cloud services and containerization using Docker/EKS.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Databricks, and hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus or Datadog.
  • Advanced Linux and bash scripting skills, with a deep understanding of secure coding practices to mitigate common vulnerabilities.
  • Exposure to GenAI, including model serving, fine-tuning, and the application of machine learning in real-world scenarios.
  • Adaptable, creative, and proactive problem-solver with a passion for Cloud Engineering, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning.
