Job Description

The Role

The BI Lead (Technical) is responsible for providing technical leadership in the design and developing BI solutions, administration of BI Platforms (Tableau) and working across the entire organisation to uplift the use of enterprise BI tools and adoption of agreed standards.

The role will support SEEK’s newly established BI Community of Practice (BICoP) and its members to drive overall business value, efficiency and continuous improvement in the use of business data and maturity of the BI domain.

  • Design & Development: Design and implement insightful BI solutions and data visualisations.
  • Collaboration: Work with SEEK’s community of BI practitioners to uplift skills and data literacy.
  • Governance: Improve the effectiveness and governance of BI practices across the organisation.
  • Administration: Support the BI Platform team deliver, operate and administer BI tools (Tableau and Power BI)
  • Training & Support: Design and deliver training to mature oval BI capabilities for individuals and teams.

 

The role reports to the BI & Reporting Platform Manager and works in close partnership with the BI practitioners and Analytics teams that are federated into different business functions across APAC.

Key Responsibilities

BI Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership to the BICoP to establish standard practices and governance principles in the use and delivery of BI.
  • Become the trusted expert for BI practitioners in resolving any technical matters.
  • Consult with key stakeholders to plan and execute strategic Data/BI transformation projects.
  • Deliver training in the use and application of data and BI skills/tools such as SQL, Tableau/PowerBI.
  • Contribute to the running of the BICoP events and activities.
  • Drives continuous improvement in the BI discipline by incorporating emerging trends.

BI Platform Management

  • Provide BI Technical leadership and support the BI Technical Administrator on the operations and management of enterprise BI tools and applications.
  • Lead BI operations to ensure services meet technical health metrics and SLAs regarding security, availability, performance, cost etc.
  • Work with the BI Service Administrator to manage day-to-day provisioning, licensing, administration, access control, and tech support of BI tools.
  • Support the continuous improvement of BI tools and services based on use-cases, opportunities and feedback from users.
  • Liaise with vendors and professional service providers to improve capabilities and troubleshoot issues.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing BI solutions, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role. 
  • Deep understanding of BI tools, technologies, practices, and governance. 
  • Experience managing delivery and operation of BI platforms and service.
  • Experience in the use of and administration of Tableau Desktop/Server/Cloud or PowerBI
  • Proficient in SQL

Other Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification: Tableau Server Associate or Tableau Desktop Specialist or Tableau Data Analyst
  • Exposure to data transformation tools and processes (e.g. DBT, Databricks and AWS Athena)
  • Experience training, coaching & mentoring others.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and interpersonal skills.

The Team

The BI & Reporting Platform team is a small team made up of the BI & Reporting Platform Manager and BI technical administrators located in Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur.

It is part of the wider Data Platforms team which provides self-service platforms enabling SEEKers to work with data to make informed decisions and build phenomenal customer experiences.

The team supports a wide range of teams across SEEK who work with data and BI. Some key collaborators are AI and Product Analytics, Data Delivery Services, and federated BI practitioners embedded in our Sales, Country Operations, Marketing, Finance, Strategy, and Commercial Excellence teams.
