Job Description

The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that SEAKR’s supply chain is consistently able to provide high-quality, reliable PCB’s for aerospace applications.  This person will participate in supplier quality audits, performs source inspections, approve PCB receipts, including occasional review of Supplier data packs, IPC Coupon evaluations, Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA), D-Coupon testing, and visual inspection findings.  The PCB Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in SEAKR’s Product Assurance department, serving as the primary disposition authority for non-conforming PCBs, responsible for making risk-based and technically justified assessments for Ground Support, Engineering, and Flight hardware.  The PCB Supplier Quality Engineer reports to the Manager of the Supplier Quality Engineering Group.

IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL

  • Support PCB procurement, program management, manufacturing, and engineering with all supplier quality related activities. 
  • Report to the office on a hybrid schedule (minimum 2-3 days per week, and more as required) to act as a Receiving Inspection liaison to assist with material discrepancies and visual findings.
  • Regularly attend and participate in the PCB Control Board; As a sitting member you will help support discussion on new suppliers, track PCB receipts and dispositions, and propose or support additional testing required to vet suspect PCB production lots
  • Maintain a relationship with the SEAKR PCB Layout and Hardware Engineering teams, to maintain a high-level overview and understanding of new design challenges, need for new material laminates or resin systems, evolutions in signal integrity design and plating finishes
  • Conduct on-site supplier quality audits of key PCB fabrication houses, including drafting and maintaining electronic records of supplier surveillance reports in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Communicate non-conformances to supplier and request, track, and help implement corrective/preventive action where necessary.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineering and other Program Teams in disposition of non-conforming product, include generation of Approval Waivers and the presentation and defense of SEAKR’s technical approach and disposition to Customers
  • Work with Procurement, other SQE/Component Engineers to vet and onboard new suppliers.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field; applicable years of direct experience may substitute for an engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing processes, specifically involving strengthening processes that will reduce defects, reduce receiving inspections, and reduce company risk
  • Experience in product assurance and quality systems, and/or exposure to ISO9001/AS9100, IPC-A600, IPC-6012/6013
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, common defects and problems, and how those non-conformances impact overall reliability of the product
  • Able to travel (10%-25% typical, up to 50% of time per month) to perform supplier surveys, audits, assessments, and inspections
  • Strong communication skills to interface effectively with internal customers and external suppliers on quality and quality control issues
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation such as drawing dimensions and mechanical/electronic inspection methods/reports
  • Ability to successfully operate as part of a multi-functional team, including engineering, program management, supply chain, and manufacturing
  • Ability to accept direction from immediate supervisor as well as company officers.
  • Background in performing root cause analysis (5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone, Pareto, FMEA), and identifying solutions to complex problems
  • Exhibits a professional demeanor at all times; grounded and professionally confident and comfortable making risk-based assessments
  • Knowledge of quality systems and supply chain quality functions and documentation.
  • Effective time management and skillfulness at task prioritization
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALITIES

  • Familiarity and experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Experience improving supplier performance through metrics
  • Experience leading process improvement projects with Agile, Six Sigma, Lean or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such Epicor, Abas, Infor, SAP. Sapphire, Kronos, IFS, Oracle +Netsuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar

Additional Information

Compensation: Base pay range is $100,000-140,000 depending on qualifications.  SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
