Job Description

A Staff Program Manager is responsible for defining, implementing and leading program plans and activities to ensure customer requirements are met along with internal financial goals.  This is a full-time exempt position in which the work is performed under limited supervision by either a Program Director or Vice President and is evaluated on results obtained.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create, communicate and maintain program execution plans for programs ranging from $20M to $300M with program team head count in the range of 75 to 120.
  • Determine team structure and discipline needs to achieve the program plan and work with functional managers to matrix assign the necessary team members
  • Create, communicate and maintain the program budget and schedule; work intimately with Program Controls to establish a baseline plan and perform monthly schedule, cost and risk updates
  • Establish and track risks and opportunities in a risk database; lead program risk mitigation plans and opportunity achievement plans; maintain current status of risks, opportunities and plans relative to program EAC, Management Reserve and Schedule
  • Interact directly with the customer to understand requirements, expectations, unit operations and to communicate program status and risks
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with electronics design and packaging such that 1.) they are experienced with developing a plan and schedule for circuit card, FPGA and embedded software design and 2.) they are a key contributor in technical decisions that influence program performance
  • Manage the planning and performance of component/EEE part procurement with Supply Chain to ensure all parts are on-hand in time to support program engineering development unit builds and flight article builds
  • Manage the production and test flow working with Receiving Inspection, Property, Manufacturing and Production Test groups.
  • Support Business Development and Business Capture with proposals and development of proposal schedules and pricing
  • For the company as a whole, and especially as driven toward positioning SEAKR to execute on existing backlog establish a One Team Culture and mindset for continuous improvement
    • Develop a culture for continuous improvement and cross-function unity of effort
    • Identify potential for expense reduction on programs assigned and across all SEAKR programs
    • Explore capacity and productivity improvements through selective continuous improvement projects across multiple disciplines and with Supply Chain
    • Work collaboratively with other Program Managers sharing methodologies, ideas and know-how to minimize program costs and establish accurate EACs.
    • Direct engagement for customer to identify issues and work collaboratively to resolve issues
    • Manage priorities and resources on a program and escalate as required.
  • Support Leadership in:
    • Strategy and New Business Development
    • Exceeding Annual Operating Plan commitments
    • New process development for enhanced program execution

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follow SEAKR rules and regulations as documented in the SEAKR Employee Handbook and applicable operating procedures.
  • Read professional journals and updates and attends seminars to keep aware of trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Plans, organizes and oversees the work of program teams.
  • Reviews and evaluates performance and provides detailed feedback on program team members to functional management
  • Responsible for ensuring clear communication of expectations to all program team members and staffing needs to functional managers

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of all elements of aerospace business and operations- including customer relationship management, business development, proposal management, product development, lean project development and execution, back office operations, and information technology and business operations functions
  • Knowledge/experience with Aerospace Prime Contractors and/or Government Program Offices
  • Knowledge/experience with full life cycle of electronics product development.  Subsystem and system level experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience with corporate command media as performing in a matrixed business structure
  • Knowledge of a variety of software systems including Word, E-mail, Excel, Microsoft Project
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with company policies and practices.
  • Ability to effectively analyze situations and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to work independently in the identification and coordination of multiple projects.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as well as multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with members of management and support organizations.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to proofread a variety of documents and to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel 10% or more.
  • Ability to put in overtime as needed.
  • Ability to operate the equipment listed below.

Education or Formal Training

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Digital and Power Electronics Industry with preferred experience with Space Products to include flight HW and Ground Systems
  • Leadership and oversight of $25M+ sized projects
  • 5+ years of experience working in a small to medium sized business

Additional Information

Compensation: Base pay range is $135,000 - $200,000 depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
