Associate Development Architect (M/F)

  • Full-time

Job Description

What you'll bring

You are a software engineer with solid experience in distributed systems and scalable data platforms. You bring technical depth and the ability to work autonomously on complex engineering challenges.

  • Solid grounding in distributed systems design — concurrency, parallelisation, consensus, scheduling, and resource management — applied in multithreaded production environments
  • Experience building scalable microservices and high-throughput APIs for data processing platforms
  • Proficiency in Java for production-grade software development
  • Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes across private and public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Awareness with distributed file systems — S3, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), or HDFS — and with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in database or data management platforms
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

We also look for people who build trust naturally, communicate with clarity, keep the customer at the centre of what they do, and bring emotional intelligence and genuine problem-solving ability to the challenges they face.

In addition to the skills and experience specific to this role, all positions at SAP require candidates who are comfortable using AI tools — including agentic AI — in their day-to-day work, from crafting effective inputs and automating routine tasks, to evaluating AI-generated outputs for quality and facilitating adoption of AI practices within their teams.

What you'll build

You will take ownership across the full development lifecycle of distributed systems within SAP's database cloud platform.

  • Build and contribute to distributed data processing components: proficiency protocols, locking and consensus, scheduling, auto-scaling, and self-healing
  • Deliver scalability and performance through sound concurrency and parallelisation in multithreaded, distributed environments
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable APIs with low-latency access to distributed storage
  • Participate actively in code and design reviews to maintain engineering quality and deepen system comprehending across the team
  • Support team growth through hiring participation, coaching, and contributing to engineering best practices

Where you belong

H&P Database Cloud Excellence builds the distributed systems that power SAP's cloud data platforms — robust, highly available, and built to scale. The team is investing in automation, self-healing, and zero-downtime operations, making this a technically rewarding moment to join. You will work alongside skilled engineers who value ownership, quality, and collaboration. The role is based at our Paris office in Levallois-Perret.
