Job Description
The holder of this position will make critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting the company's finances. He/she will be responsible for setting up QuickBooks, onboarding vendors, presiding audits, reconciling bank statements and ensuring records are accurate throughout the year. Below are the duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Set up SALIX Data Africa QuickBooks, including vendor set up in QuickBooks
- Handle book keeping duties both for Kenya and USA.
- Handle bank and credit card reconciliations
- Entering bills and preparing for payments
- Managing accounts receivables
- Statements, follow-up, identifying concerns about payment
- Structure and process for understanding, accounting for, paying appropriate taxes in Africa
- Looking for tax strategies that would be advantageous to SALIX
- Location of office, government programs for hiring/training etc.
- Financial controlling and financial advising
- Understanding both the past and looking into the future
- Monthly reports
- P&L and balance sheets
- Procurement processes (multiple proposals, shortlisting etc.)
- Managing payroll
- Oversee approval workflow
- Including income statements, balance sheet, cash flow statement, AR and AP
- Establish a budgeting process for all SALIX
- Timely and accurate financial statements
Qualifications
A successful candidate for this position will be:

Educational background / Work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field
- Additional accounting qualifications (e.g. CPA (K), ACCA, etc.)
- At least 4 years hands-on experience in a busy Finance Department
- Professional experience in management and financial reporting as well as in accounting/ financial processes
- Proven Tax experience/Knowledge applicable to BPOs
- Knowledge in QuickBooks
- Cashflow Management
- EOS Tracking experience will be an added advantage
