Marketing & Communications Lead

  • Full-time

Company Description

Rypples is a permanent-capital platform built by two unicorn founders to scale ocean innovation.

We back ocean-positive companies that are ready to grow and stay with them through the hard part: execution at scale.

Rypples is not a fund. We invest from our own balance sheet as a long-term anchor shareholder and execution partner. In the past 12 months, we’ve invested in 10 companies across Ocean Health, Ecosystems, Data, Maritime, and Blue Foods. Our ambition is to deploy $1bn into 100 ocean-positive solutions and establish a new capital model designed for scale.

As we grow the platform, we need a clear, consistent way of explaining how we think, how we work, and what it really takes to scale ocean companies: to founders, investors, and the wider ecosystem.

That’s where this role comes in.

Job Description

We’re hiring a Marketing & Communication Lead to join the Rypples team and own how we communicate. You’ll work closely with the founders to shape and express our thinking, translate real execution work into clear, high-signal narratives, and build an audience by sharing our journey in public.

You’ll own Rypples’ communications end-to-end, with LinkedIn as the primary channel, turning our core ideas, execution at scale, permanent capital, clean governance, long-term ownership, into clear, repeatable stories. You’ll run a simple, consistent content cadence, share what we’re learning about scaling ocean-positive companies (including the trade-offs and constraints usually left out), and develop a small number of recurring formats or series, potentially including a podcast. As the role evolves, you’ll also work closely with portfolio founders and ecosystem partners to surface the right stories, and continuously refine tone and formats based on what resonates.

Qualifications

You have 5–10 years of experience in marketing communications, in environments close to ours: emerging VCs, startups, climate or ocean-focused organisations, or deep-tech businesses.

You’re a strong writer and editor who can clearly express complex, technical, or strategic ideas. You’ve worked closely with founders, operators, or investors, and you’re comfortable shaping narratives in fast-moving, ambiguous settings.

You’ve built and grown an audience before (LinkedIn, newsletter, podcast, or similar) and understand what it takes to do this consistently over time.

You work autonomously, think from first principles, and are comfortable shipping, learning, and iterating as you go.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, fully remote role with a global candidate base and potentially some travel around key ocean, climate events. You’ll be building the communications function from day one, working directly with experienced founders, and helping shape how the next generation of ocean companies get built.

Diverse teams perform better. Please bring your difference along.
