Purpose

Roll Group is moving to a more harmonised process and data driven way to run the business. Therefore, the management and use of our business applications, on both the business and IT side, is under development. Building more knowledge around critical business applications and global support, has led to expanding the team with this position. In this position you are the link between the business, the Digital team and our application suppliers.

The Application Engineer is a member of the Global Digital team. In this role, you will have an active role in creating a reliable and secure ICT services, guiding the business in best use of applications, and improving the quality of our service to end users. The move within Roll Group to a more global standard “way of working” needs you, in this role, to support that move with “fit for purpose” business applications. In this you can be responsible for the entire scope of defining business needs, implementation of improvements and organizing the ability to support the applications.

This position reports to the Global Head of Digital.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of all critical business applications together with other IT team members;
• Assisting key users with user and permission management, functional settings, and templates in the applications;
• Maintaining document all business-critical applications;
• Monitoring service level agreements and actively seeking improvements in the application;
• Assisting in data uploads, extracts, tests, updates, upgrades, and migrations;
• Setting up application management for unmanaged apps from the ground up if needed;
• Managing incident, problem and change management processes related to the applications;
• Compile technical specifications that should be built including monitoring our suppliers in the realization thereof;
• Liaise with suppliers and maintain a good relationship to solve problems or implement improvements.

Requirements for success

• A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent level of working in information science or a vocational education degree supplemented with 3 years of relevant work experience
• BISL or equivalent Business IT alignment framework knowledge
• ITIL foundation or equivalent IT service management certification
• Experience dealing with data formats such as XML, CSV, HTML and scripting languages
• Knowledge of application management practices
• Strong communication skills and ease in contacts with users
