Job Description

The operator assists with execution of heavy transportation, and is responsible for ensuring safe operations of Roll-Lift USA, and on occasion, third party transport equipment, including but not limited to scheurele trailers, nootebooms, forklifts, etc. The operator is also responsible for pre- and post- trip inspections of the equipment and ensuring that any transported loads are secure and safe for transport prior to operation.

  • Understand and follow all industry recognized signals and practices
  • Working understanding of RLUSA equipment and their operation, including but not limited to self-propelled modular transporters, gantry systems, and jack and slide equipment
  • Capable of performing and checking rigging and lashing done on equipment and the load, to ensure that the move can be performed safely for personnel, load, and equipment
  • Ensure project safety rules and environmental regulations are followed
  • Can perform heavy physical labor over an extended period
  • Capable of identifying potential hazards when operating Heavy Transporting Equipment (HTE) and exercise caution to ensure that extremely dangerous situations are avoided
  • Take protective measures to ensure safe working conditions exist on all projects
  • Troubleshoot any issues seen with the trailers which do not conform to typical, approved methods
  • Has basic knowledge of engineering drawings/sketches and is able to ensure that loads, loading methods, load securing, and load transport comply with plan
  • Assists with jacking, pumping, carriage, winch and work before, during and after movement
  • Must be able and willing to work away from home for extended periods of time
  • Perform daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly reporting, to include but not limited to maintenance and inspections, when required

Qualifications

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
  • Possess a TWIC license or be able to acquire license prior to assignment

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to a variety of conditions at construction job sites such as fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position eligible for overtime. Days and hours of work are assigned per project. Yard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM including a one-hour lunch break.

 

Travel

Travel for this position is required up to 100% of the time based on project assignment.
