Roll Group was founded in 2006 and has grown into a global organization with in total 360 employees. 90 employees are based at the head office in Capelle aan de IJssel and 3 small satellite offices in Breda, Sassenheim and Hamburg. We have approx. 100 own crew members working on board of our vessels.

In the Americas, mostly centred in Texas where the regional office is based, we employ around 80 employees.  

In APAC MEA the regional offices are situated in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, with satellite offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea and Japan. All together around 90 employees.

Roll Group has the ambition to grow worldwide in the renewable industry (offshore wind), the Oil & Gas sector, but also in other sectors such as defence and civil engineering.

Job Description

We are expanding and looking for an IT Lead Engineer Data & Intelligence for our IT department. Are you a self-starter, passionate about IT Architecture, process & data modelling, heavy transport and do you have a ‘can do’ mentality? Then you might be the person we are looking for!

Purpose

Roll Group is changing to a fully process and data driven business model. Therefore, the management and use of our critical data on both the business and IT side is under development. When data has to be ‘moved’ or ‘interpreted’, you are the key person!

The IT Lead Engineer, Data & Intelligences plays a key role within the global IT team. You will take the lead in guiding the harmonization and standardization of our business data and its value, promoting architectural thinking and working. After formulating unambiguous definitions of data sets, the data models will lead into concrete results.

In this position you must ensure that Roll Group consciously starts treating data as an asset and manages data consciously to drive business value and needs are translated into solutions.

This position reports to the Global IT Manager.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support data models and ETLs to provide access to structured and accurate data sets;
  • Design, implement and support data transfer definitions and realizations thereof through integration technologies;
  • Ensure the availability of data to enable accurate decision making within the company;
  • Manage and enhance the value of Roll Group's Data Lake and DWH infrastructure;
  • Analyze, develop, integrate and optimize new data sources;
  • Maintain and document definitions of logical data models and advise process owners. Focus on simplification and unambiguous use of data by all processes;
  • Provide one version of truth and reliable master-slave relationships;
  • Devise, develop and deliver BI solutions.
  • Work proactively and minimize service disruptions. Solve these in time;
  • Provide advice and support on information issues from within the company;
  • Manage suppliers and monitor their agreements and performance;
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for quality and continuous improvement;
  • Manage implementation projects;
  • Communicate with stakeholders within the various functions and layers.

Qualifications

Requirements for success

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in information science;
  • At least 3 years of work experience of which 1-2 Years of Related Work Experience with designing end-to-end BI solutions (incl. modelling, writing production ETL Codes and reports), and preferably 1-2 years in an IT process oriented role;
  • Significant knowledge of SQL and OLAP;
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL server, NoSQL database, Azure stack and PowerBI;
  • Strong communication, problem solving skills and customer oriented;
  • Business, Economic & Financial Acumen;
  • Analytical, Detailed, & Process Oriented;
  • Conceptual & Entrepreneurial Thinking;
  • Multi-Project Management.
