We have approx. 100 own crew members working on board of our vessels.

In the Americas, mostly centred in Texas where the regional office is based, we employ around 80 employees.  

In APAC MEA the regional offices are situated in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, with satellite offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea and Japan. All together around 90 employees.

Roll Group has the ambition to grow worldwide in the renewable industry (offshore wind), the Oil & Gas sector, but also in other sectors such as defence and civil engineering.

Job Description

Roll Group is changing to a fully process and data driven business model. Therefore, the management and use of our business applications, on both the business and IT side, is under development. Building more knowledge around critical business applications has led to expanding the team with this position. In this position you are the link between the business, and our application suppliers.

 

The Lead Application Engineer is a member of the Global IT team. In this role you will have an active role in creating a solid ICT service & application management process, guiding the harmonization and standardization of the use of our applications, and improving the quality of our service to end users. The introduction of more process-based and documented working methods is a necessary change in order to guarantee knowledge. In this you are responsible for the entire process of determining business needs, organizing and support of applications usage.

 

Initially you will focus on the applications that are used for asset management, the maintenance and planning of our ships, cranes and tools for heavy transport and lifting activity’s.

 

This position reports to the Global IT Manager.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Increase the quality of the ICT business services and the continuous reduction of incidents;
  • Increase first-line knowledge and first-time fix ratio;
  • Optimizing and setting up operational application management for our critical applications;
  • Monitoring and setting up security at application level;
  • Increasing the productivity and self-reliance of end users;
  • Translating business needs to functional and none-functional specifications;
  • Facilitating the preparation of an investment proposal;
  • Realization of needs and the successful introduction of renewed applications;
  • Maintain full registration of licenses and usage in the CMDB;
  • Managing IT service risks when introducing changes;
  • Advice and support the business with regards to IT information issues;
  • Managing suppliers and monitoring agreed performance;
  • Compile technical specifications that should be built including monitoring our suppliers in the realization thereof;
  • The technical execution of installations, configuring of applications.

Additional Information

Requirements for success

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in information science;
  • Solid knowledge of, or ITIL, BISL nad Prince2 Project management certified;
  • At least 3 years of work experience of which 1-2 Years of Related Work Experience with functional design of IT applications, implementing and installing (preferably Asset Management, Project Management or Purchasing related applications) and effectively documenting processes, standardizing and harmonizing applications;
  • Significant knowledge in software development technologies such as Java and .Net;
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and SQL scripting;
  • Strong communication, problem solving skills and customer oriented;
  • Analytical, Detailed, & Process Oriented;
  • Multi-Project Management.
