Job Description

The Environment Artist will create objects and scenes requiring modeling, textures, shading, lighting, animation (camera and basic mechanical) and rendering, ensuring to meet the high quality standards of Rodeo FX. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create modeling, textures, shading, lighting, animation (camera and basic mechanical) for objects, environments or full scenes, ensuring to produce work up to the high-quality standards of Rodeo FX;
  • Combine talents in Photoshop, Clarisse, Maya, Houdini and Nuke, with knowledge of modeling and camera projection techniques, to produce photo-realistic and stylized environments in 3D and 2D;
  • Participate in the development of setups for the different stages of production in 3D and resolve any issues encountered;
  • Work closely with the CG and Environment Supervisors to find creative and technical solutions and approaches that enhance shots, while meeting project specifications and deadlines;
  • May participate in the development of tools and techniques for the department;
  • Perform quality control on shots before they are submitted for review/approval, ensuring all technical and creative standards are met, and promptly apply notes received;
  • Keep Production and the project team informed of the status of work, issues to be resolved, ramifications of problems encountered and recommend potential solutions;
  • Ensure deadlines are met, advising the project team promptly if delays could be expected. 

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar position, within the VFX industry;
  • Excellent knowledge of one of the three following softwares: Houdini, Clarisse or Maya software;
  • Good knowledge of Photoshop, Substance Painter, Nuke and Arnold;
  • Excellent sense of prioritization and respect of deadlines;
