Job Description

The Community Outreach Worker provides going outreach, marketing and recruitment activities for the Employment Division. Identifies, plans, coordinates, and implements marketing events in the community at various locations. Administers Career readiness questionnaires, screenings and needs assessments for target populations. Builds and maintains relationships with community based organizations, businesses and various stakeholders.

Key Functions:

  • Provides various outreach and recruitment activities at the following locations: training centers, educational institutions, community organizations, faith-based organizations, community & job fairs and local businesses. Activities will be conducted during various hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Provides benefit screening and transitional assessment.
  • Administers various readiness assessment tools to target population to gage interest and readiness. Review results with candidate and referrals source.
  • Assesses individual motivation and readiness for career planning and vocational services.
  • Makes internal and external referrals for services and supports as identified as pre-requisites to program acceptance.
  • Assists with orientation, intake and groups as needed.
  • Maintains case record documentation as required by program and adhere to all reporting deadlines.
  • Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that participant and program goals are on target.
  • Adheres to Company policies and procedures to include being aware of the importance of Corporate Compliance Policies and the Code of Conduct. Staff is responsible for maintaining required certifications and licenses.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills and/or Licensing/Certification Required: 

  • Bachelors’ degree in human services, social work or related degree with at least 1 year of experience providing outreach, career planning or marketing OR an Associate's degree and 2 years of experience working with the following populations: Low income, individuals with disabilities and families.
  • Manual communications skills and/or willingness to acquire skills desired.
  • Basic computers skills
  • Valid NYS driver’s license, acceptable MVR at all times required.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.
