Job Description
As the Internal Communication Manager, you are the single specialist, advisor and driving force behind our (global) internal communications for our office employees. You have the experience to co-develop a clear and impactful internal communication strategy with senior stakeholders. At the same time, you play a hands-on role in executing this strategy, ensuring employees stay informed and engaged through our intranet and other internal channels.
You thrive as the central link between the five key departments involved in internal communications (Marketing, Impact, HR, Events, Retail), translating business needs into an impactful strategy and content calendar, for which you serve as the chief editor.
Our intranet will be your primary platform, where you support content owners across teams in bringing our culture to life through compelling and effective content. Whether it’s crafting clear and engaging messages, managing the content calendar, or generating creative content ideas, you ensure internal communication is engaging, relevant, and aligned with our culture. You act as the organization's eyes and ears, staying connected to company developments and proactively identifying communication needs.
Your Accountabilities
- Internal content & communication strategy: Co-develop and execute a clear and impactful internal communication strategy that aligns with business priorities, supports leadership, and enhances employee engagement. Ensure communication is structured, consistent, and effectively reaches office employees.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal departments to align communication plan & execution with business needs:
HR - on key projects and programs that impact employees, such as wellbeing initiatives and leadership updates.
Impact - to communicate & involve our employees on our Profit Pledge and sustainability efforts internally.
Events: Involve Events, Town Halls, and Brandshows to make our our internal communication strategy come to live.
Marketing - align internal and external messaging and ensure employees are well-informed about brand campaigns and corporate announcements.
Retail – collaborate on aligned communication via different platforms
Other departments that need internal communication support. - Content management: Be the chief editor of the internal communication content calendar, ensuring a steady flow of relevant and structured updates, including new editorial features for the Intranet to keep it surprising & relevant. Guide content owners across different markets, helping them refine and structure their communication and local intranet.
- Intranet management & monitoring: Oversee the internal communication platform, monitor content performance, and ensure the intranet remains the go-to hub for employees. Provide guidance and feedback to improve clarity, consistency, and engagement.
- Training & support: Empower content owners by providing training, best practices, and guidance on writing and effectively using the intranet.
- Platform optimization: Explore and implement new features for our intranet, such as AI-powered tools, analytics and integration with our ticketing system to enhance efficiency and usability. Co-develop new, improved technical releases with BT.
In this specialist role you will report to the Executive Director Impact and be part of the bigger impact team.
Qualifications
High on energy, low on ego and with a little bit of humor. You are also 'one of a kind' because of your out-going personality and flexibility. In addition, you are a self-starter and have an entrepreneurial mindset with everything you do.
On top of this:
- You have a higher professional education (Bachelor) or university (Master) level of working and thinking in the field of Communication.
- Proven experience – 5-7 years of experience in (corporate/internal) communication
- Exceptional English writing skills - translate complex topics into clear, engaging, and human-centered messages in our company’s tone of voice.
- Stakeholder management – from Exco members to colleagues at the HQ. Truly enjoy being the “Spin-in-the-web".
- Proactive & hands-on mentality - a natural connector who understands what’s happening in the organization and anticipates communication needs.
- Organizational skills - experience managing content calendars and coordinating multiple communication projects.
- You preferably, already reside in the Netherlands.
