Job Description

Ripen is seeking a strategic and creative ecommerce copywriter with a thorough understanding of marketing and brand building to write compelling brand copy. The ideal candidate for this must be able to write original, inventive copy that builds the brand through tone (sometimes even humor), style, story and content. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop creative messaging that effectively communicates stated objectives while adhering to brand voice guidelines
  • Work with merchandising, marketing, creative and web teams to ensure copy is on-trend, on-brand, compelling and concise
  • Able to tell a story when needed, and aid in the development of a brand tone and voice for clients
  • Research and write product positioning 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Proofread copy for clarity, accuracy of detail and consistency of style 
  • Long-form and technical copy for both B2B and B2C
  • Produce exceptional work across all media types
  • Present creative concepts internally and to clients as needed

Qualifications

  • Advertising copywriting experience for retail or eCommerce 
  • Proven ability to generate customer response by writing highly effective ad and marketing copy for ecommerce clients
  • Ability to adopt the voice, personality and tone for any brand
  • Ability to think and write under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Understanding of the retail business and the concept of brand marketing
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of writing techniques, creative writing approaches, English, and grammar
  • Candidate must inspire us with their awesome personality and amazing work
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as English, advertising, journalism or marketing
  • 3-7 years of creative copywriting and editing experience in a corporate or advertising agency environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of e-commerce
  • Tactical experience on what moves the needle with email – subject line, headline and CTA
  • Understanding of how copy relates/impacts the user experience
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with a proven track record of writing on-brand, relevant, and compelling content
  • Communicate ideas in a clear and compelling manner
  • A collaborative spirit that can handle constructive criticism
  • Proven experience writing online content with current portfolio (web content, blogs, campaigns, social media, video, etc.)
  • Highly creative thinker with a marketing mindset
