Job Description

Our internal Operations Team is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to help support our ongoing growth and expansion. As the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for ongoing accounting operations including, but not limited to customer billing, revenue recognition, payroll oversight, month end journal entries, and ad hoc analysis. Consider your day-to-day responsibilities in this role:

  • Enhance billing system to facilitate smooth operations, including project and agreement setup

  • Oversee and approve accurate generation and dispatch of invoices

  • Scrutinize sales orders to verify the correctness of billing setups

  • Execute billing and reporting tasks in adherence to deadlines

  • Oversee the management of tax exemption certificates, including timely follow-ups and requests as required

  • Analyze and resolve escalated customer or internal inquiries

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Foster effective communication by liaising with cross-functional & support teams

  • Own Billing and AR Collections processes with guidance from Sr. Accounting Mgr/Controller

  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations such as ASC842 and ASC606.

  • Coordinate and direct financial planning which may include budgeting, procurement, and investment activities.

  • Improve financial reporting and controls by redesigning/automating processes to gain efficiency and accuracy.

  • Develop relationships through working with other departments, external auditors, state tax agencies and regulatory bodies.

  • Actively participate in a heavily team-oriented business by supporting the business units.

  • Mentor and coach employees at all levels to continually improve and achieve their personal and professional career goals.

  • Take part in merger and acquisition integrations, including any ad-hoc requirements as they arise.

  • Provide exceptional mentoring and coaching for continuous professional improvement of your staff.

  • Develop expertise in providing training and support to colleagues on the usage and functionalities of time tracking and payroll software solutions, empowering team members to effectively leverage them for streamlined payroll management.

  • Conduct thorough reviews to ensure accuracy and grant final approval for bi-weekly payroll processing.

  • Complete monthly reconciliation of payroll system to the accounting system for audit purposes.

  • Handle complex payroll issues, discrepancies, or compliance challenges that require effective problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

  • Manage the integration of employee data during acquisitions.

Qualifications

Some of the qualifications and skills we are expecting include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations with 1+ years of managerial experience, preferred progression from ‘Billing Manager’ or ‘Payroll Manager’.

  • CPA preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of tax regulations and requirements in a multi-state payroll environment.

  • Safeguarding sensitive information: Exercise discretion and caution when handling confidential data, ensuring it is not shared with unauthorized individuals or disclosed inappropriately.

  • Demonstrated capacity for multitasking, adept management of shifting priorities, and maintaining composure in high-pressure environments.

  • Drives strategic process ownership, proactive improvement initiatives, and effective automation strategies, consistently delivering measurable improvements in operational efficiency and performance.

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

  • Familiarity with various accounting software applications, experience with ADP, Netsuite & Connectwise preferred.

  • Proficiency in both independent work and collaborative team dynamics.

  • Sound emphasis on fostering effective cross-departmental communication and collaboration to ensure seamless integration and alignment across all functions.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage, mentor and motivate a team.
