Job Description

This role will support the Head of Real Assets, Investments, in constructing, developing and maintaining a high-quality portfolio of Real Assets investments.
This will include contributing to the development of the Real Assets investment strategy, building relationships with external investment management teams, and analysing, reviewing, and undertaking due diligence relating to new infrastructure investment opportunities.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Real Assets investment strategy, including identifying, researching, and originating new investment opportunities.
- Manage and review the performance of the Infrastructure portfolio, maintaining a keen understanding of key value drivers, risks, and compliance with legislative and industry requirements.
- Conduct regular investment assessments, including risk allocation, strategy alignment, and adherence to the established investment philosophy.
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including infrastructure managers, portfolio investment companies, and industry consultants.
- Prepare and present comprehensive submissions to relevant committees, outlining recommendations for portfolio construction, origination opportunities, and key risks.
- Integrate ESG considerations into investment decisions and contribute to a collaborative work environment, fostering strong relationships across the investment team and supporting functions.
Qualifications
- Relevant educational qualifications including, but not limited to, Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce, or Law degree
- Advanced degrees or industry qualifications (such as CFA) are highly regarded
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
- A strong commitment to Rest’s values, with a track record of making investment decisions that are ethically and sustainably sound.
- Significant experience in a senior infrastructure role at a fund manager / superannuation fund, corporate finance advisory firm or investment banking.
- Knowledge of Australian and International infrastructure markets, with experience in aligning investment strategies for large institutional investors.
- Expertise in ESG integration, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities in real assets, ensuring investments are aligned with long-term sustainable goals.
- Proficiency in evaluating new investments and returns across various markets, with a keen insight into "whole of fund" portfolio construction (e.g. emphasizing the strategic inclusion of private market investments to optimize the overall Rest portfolio performance).
- Understanding of long-term investment risks, and skills to manage comprehensive and systematic due diligence activities for new investment opportunities and asset disposals (including managing, tax, legal, ESG, and operational due diligence workstreams).
- Experience in assessing portfolio construction considerations including key return drivers and risks.
- Highly developed reporting and presentation skills, and the ability to describe complex processes and concepts in a precise manner to key stakeholders.
- People and relationship management skills to provide for sound relationships between Rest, fund manager(s), and co- investors.
- Negotiation and communication skills, with a history of effectively engaging stakeholders and articulately presenting investment ideas, considerations, and risks.
- The role may require periodic travel (domestic and international).
