Job Description

This position will facilitate the operational risk environment of the investment team being properly assessed, monitored and maintained consistent with Rest’s Risk Management Framework.  This position works within the investment team embodying and promoting a sound risk culture including by ensuring its risk profile, risk management activities and risk events are appropriately managed.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Managing the Operational Risk function in the Investments team, which delivers risk advice, supports risk event management, risk in change assessments, control management and testing, assurance activities, as well as conducting investment manager operational due diligence
  • Ensure the coherent and strategic operation of the risk management framework in the investment team to empower the attainment of the investment team’s business objectives within risk appetite
  • Ensure the preparation of regular risk and risk event reporting to support delivery of investment’s business outcomes
  • Promote risk culture across the investment team and promote continuous improvement towards better practice, as well as resilience across its current and future operations

 

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, law, economics, business or equivalent
  • (desirable) Membership of a professional body such as the Risk Management Institute of Australia or the GRC Institute

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • Significant demonstrable experience in risk and compliance management in the financial services industry (ideally investment management and/or superannuation)
  • Thorough understanding of, and experience of developing and implementing and reporting on, risk and compliance management tools, techniques and best practice methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of the investment management industry
  • (desirable) Experience with investment management operations
  • Demonstrated ‘commercial’ approach to risk management
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with sound oral and written communications skills
