Job Description
- Coaching and mentoring opportunities available to passionate data candidates from a manager with strong technical expertise and an equally matched passion for data

Rest is uplifting its data platform capabilities and migrating to a modern cloud platform. We’re building an entirely new pipeline covering ingestion, integrated, semantic and application-specific layers with end-to-end data quality governance. In this role you can hone your design, engineering, and stakeholder management skills.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a range of cross functional teams (including Analytics, Architecture, Information Security, Data Governance, and business teams) to design, develop and implement sound data solutions that are secure, stable and meet the business need.
- Design, develop and implement end to end data pipelines using on-premise and cloud-based platforms including Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, AWS CloudFormation and Python
- Work with the Data Engineering Lead to design, develop and maintain the Rest data model
- Work with the Data Engineering Lead to maintain and improve high quality coding standards and data integration patterns using modern design / development principles. Develop and implement data modelling standards and performance best practices.
- Provide oversight and domain expertise to the cross-functional data and insights product team to assure the delivery of outcomes with respect to the data platform
- Document and maintain data solutions as well as help the team to improve overall documentation standards
- Contribute to, and improve, knowledge sharing and collaboration within team, with partners and across the organisation.
- Update job knowledge by researching new Data Management technologies and products; participate in learning and development opportunities
- Compliance and Standards: Adhere to organisational principles and guidelines, ensuring that solutions delivered are resilient, scalable, and consistent with Rest's existing framework.
- Continuous Improvement: Ensure the continuous improvement of data solutions by identifying opportunities for improvement, aligning with the overall analytics strategy, and implementing changes.
- Actively participate and contribute to the Data Engineering Community of Practice
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in an Information Technology or related field
Required experience, understanding or credentials including:
- Extensive experience in a similar data engineering role
- Extensive experience in building end to end data pipelines using on-premise and cloud-based data platforms
- Excellent logical and physical data modelling skills as well as extensive experience in efficient SQL development and query performance & tuning
- Strong working knowledge of Data Warehouses, AWS, DBT and Python
- Working knowledge of Unix shell scripting
- Knowledgeable in relational and big data architectures, data warehousing, data integration, data modelling, data optimisation and data analysis techniques
- Understanding and appreciation of data management and data governance best practices
- A passion for technology, improving processes and implementing a different way of working
- A strong analytical thinker and problem solver with a can-do attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in an Agile environment
