About the Job

Your role as the Cloud Service Manager will help to define, implement and document our Cloud strategy aligned with the organisation’s goals and needs, to ensure best practices are used in cloud security, capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery and cost management while leveraging third parties relationships to deliver outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and document our cloud strategy to migrate legacy assets to target cloud state.
  • Define and implement robust security strategies and practices to protect sensitive data, applications, and resources in the cloud.
  • Define requirements of AWS resources that need regular and schedule backups. This includes backup frequency, strategy around full and incremental backups, off-site backups and backup testing
  • Establish a robust and scheduled process of execution of disaster recovery exercises.
  • Work with vendors to augment our capacity to execute and maintain our cloud practice on operations, DevOps and delivery of strategic programs for the organisation.
  • Work with our finance partners to keep track of cloud resource usage and expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Design practices to monitor the health and performance of cloud resources using tools and metrics.
  • Implement automation and DevOps practices to streamline cloud operations, deployment pipelines, and configuration management.
  • Estimate future resource requirements based on business growth and application needs. Ensure that the cloud infrastructure can accommodate the organisation's evolving demands.
  • Work closely with vendors, engineers, security engineers, and stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide cloud solutions that meet their needs.
  • Keep the engineering team and other technical stakeholders updated about cloud technologies and best practices through training sessions, workshops, and documentation.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues, outages, and incidents affecting cloud services promptly. Collaborate with relevant teams to diagnose and mitigate problems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to cloud computing. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, enhance security, and optimise costs.

Qualifications

About You:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cloud-specific certifications are highly valuable (AWS Solution Architect, Develop, SysOps, etc.).

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud architecture, cloud operations, or related roles is required. Experience in managing cloud services and leading teams is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. GCP experience is a bonus.
  • Proven experience in team management, including leading and mentoring cloud engineers.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals, motivate team members, and drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and compliance standards relevant to financial services industry.
  • Experience in analysing performance metrics and implementing optimisation strategies.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and performance optimisation tools like AWS CloudWatch or Azure Monitor.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve incidents affecting cloud services.
