Job Description

Rest is hiring for two Responsible Investment Analysts.

These roles offer a unique opportunity to work in a high-performing and highly collaborative responsible investments (RI) team for a universal owner and long-term investor with influence across global markets. The analysts will play an important role in supporting the implementation of Rest's responsible investment strategy, including the net zero transition plan, and integrating critical environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment decisions and active ownership.

Located within the investment strategy and asset allocation (ISAA) function, one of the analysts will operate at the intersection of sustainability and financial materiality for private markets and unlisted asset classes (e.g., property, infrastructure, and private equity) while the other analyst will operate at the intersection of sustainability and financial materiality for public markets and listed asset classes (e.g., listed equities and fixed income).

Key accountabilities include:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, collect, process, and generate relevant ESG performance metrics and dashboards.
  • Assist with ESG data analysis, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring across a range of investment strategies.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of responsible investment tools, frameworks, and processes to inform investment portfolio monitoring and decision-making.
  • Assist with active ownership activities including monitoring and reporting of high-profile proxy votes, key engagements with companies, and progress against engagement objectives.
  • Support advocacy efforts pertaining to responsible investment matters, including through relevant research.
  • Coordinate responses for external disclosures and communications, including preparation for assurance and audit activities.
  • Enhance skills and knowledge in relevant industry standards, guidance, and initiatives to improve capabilities internal and external to the organisation.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, Applied Finance, Environmental Science, Engineering or similar.
  • ESG certifications and/or sustainability qualifications are highly regarded.

Required experience, understanding or credentials including:

  • Relevant experience in a sustainability, responsible investment, financial services, consulting, or business role.
  • Working knowledge of ESG metrics, disclosure standards, reporting frameworks, sector benchmarks, and performance indices relating to responsible investment and sustainability (e.g., UN PRI, TCFD, TNFD, ISSB, SASB, GRI, PCAF, GRESB, CRREM, SBTi, IMP, OPIM).
  • Working knowledge of carbon footprinting and awareness of climate-related scenario analysis and portfolio decarbonisation.
  • Understanding of emerging themes, concepts, and trends in responsible investment and sustainability, as well as how ESG factors can be integrated into investment decision-making to optimise risk-adjusted returns and advance sustainability outcomes.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including experience in analysing data and working with large datasets.
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for learning.
