Renesas is seeking a visionary and highly influential Sr.Manager / Director of Emerging Applications & Technology Architecture to lead the exploration, definition, and commercialization of next-generation semiconductor-enabled system solutions. 

In this role, you will guide a team of world-class architects focused on identifying and developing opportunities in emerging applications and disruptive technologies, including AI, robotics, autonomous systems, drones/UAVs, industrial automation, functional safety, edge intelligence, and other high-growth market segments. 

You will serve as a strategic bridge between customers, ecosystem partners, product groups, and engineering organizations, transforming market opportunities into differentiated system solutions and future product requirements. Success in this role requires a combination of deep technical expertise, business acumen, leadership excellence, and the ability to influence across multiple organizations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Technology & Market Leadership 

• Define and drive Renesas' system architecture strategy for emerging applications and emerging technologies. 

• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities, technology trends, and high-growth application segments. 

• Translate customer challenges, technology disruptions, and market requirements into actionable system architectures and solution roadmaps. 

• Lead competitive benchmarking and technology assessments to identify capability gaps and future investment opportunities. 

• Act as a thought leader internally and externally, representing Renesas at customer meetings, industry forums, ecosystem events, and technical conferences. 

Architecture & Solution Development 

• Lead the development of system-level architectures and complete semiconductor-enabled solutions leveraging Renesas MCUs, MPUs, SoCs, analog, power, sensing, AI, and connectivity products. 

• Drive hardware/software partitioning, system trade-off analysis, and technology selection to optimize performance, cost, scalability, security, and power efficiency. 

• Oversee the development of system specifications, solution requirement documents, reference designs, proof-of-concepts, and demonstrations. 

• Establish architecture methodologies, design standards, and best practices across multiple application domains. 

• Ensure solutions address key requirements for reliability, safety, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and manufacturability. 

Product & Business Influence 

• Partner closely with Product Groups to influence product roadmaps and future semiconductor requirements based on application and system-level insights. 

• Support product definition activities by providing customer, system, and market requirements for next-generation products. 

• Drive adoption of Renesas solutions through direct customer engagement, design-in support, and strategic co-development initiatives. 

• Collaborate with solution marketing teams to define value propositions, messaging, and go-to-market strategies. 

Team Leadership & Ecosystem Development 

• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of application and system architects. 

• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous learning. 

• Establish strong partnerships with strategic customers, technology partners, startups, universities, and research institutions to accelerate innovation. 

• Promote knowledge sharing and architecture re-use across business units and regions. 

• Lead cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, marketing, product management, sales, and ecosystem partners. 

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. 

• 12+ years of experience in semiconductor, embedded systems, system architecture, or technology development roles. 

• 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams or senior engineering professionals. 

• Proven track record in developing complex embedded systems and semiconductor-based solutions. 

• Strong expertise in one or more emerging technology domains such as:  

• Artificial Intelligence and Edge AI 

• Robotics and Autonomous Systems 

• Drones/UAVs 

• Industrial Automation 

• Functional Safety and Cybersecurity 

• IoT and Connected Systems 

• Experience with system-level architecture, hardware/software co-design, and multi-disciplinary solution development. 

• Strong understanding of semiconductor technologies, embedded software, connectivity, sensing, power management, and edge computing. 

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills. 

• Fluent in English. 

Preferred 

• Experience working directly with semiconductor product definition and roadmap planning. 

• Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, or similar. 

• Experience with AI/ML deployment in embedded or edge systems. 

• Track record of customer-facing technical leadership and ecosystem development. 

• Experience working in global and cross-cultural organizations.
