- Compensation: USD 180000 - USD 220000 - yearly
Job Description
Key responsibilities:
• Customer discovery and market insight: Build direct relationships with priority U.S. customers, distributors, ecosystem partners and regional teams; uncover unmet needs, decision criteria, price thresholds, platform schedules, supply expectations and software requirements.
• Product definition: Translate validated needs into market requirements documents, value propositions, product specifications and platform/derivative recommendations spanning silicon, software, tools, kits, security and ecosystem assets.
• RX and RA portfolio roadmap: Shape roadmap and lifecycle choices across RX200, RX600, RX700, RA4 and RA6 for general-purpose, low-power, motor-control, connectivity, HMI and application-specific opportunities; define where reuse, migration, derivatives, process changes or new silicon create the strongest customer and business value.
• Business case ownership: Develop volume, ASP, revenue, margin, investment and risk assumptions; align stakeholders on target customers, design-win funnel, market window and success criteria before gate approval.
• Competitive strategy: Maintain fact-based benchmarking against global and local MCU competitors, including portfolio, performance, power, security, ecosystem, quality, supply and price; convert insights into clear win themes and trade-offs.
• Cross-functional leadership: Drive alignment with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, Regional Marketing, Sales, FAE, Operations, Quality and Finance; resolve requirement conflicts and keep customer commitments synchronized with feasible execution.
• Early customer engagement: Secure lead customers, manage pre-NPI technical/commercial alignment, capture feedback on samples and collateral, and close requirement gaps before mass-production decisions.
• NPI and lifecycle execution: Guide launch readiness, pricing logic, fighting guides, training and product collateral; monitor adoption and business-case delivery; coordinate technical updates, product changes and discontinuation communication when required.
Near-term priorities:
• Validate U.S. customer requirements and business cases for the next generation of RX200, RX600, RX700, RA4 and RA6 products, prioritizing performance, power, memory, package, connectivity, security, cost, supply resilience and time-to-market gaps.
• Expand the U.S. customer and channel pipeline across industrial automation, building automation, HVAC, motor control, energy infrastructure, smart metering, IoT, medical, consumer and secure connected applications.
• Define a clear RX-versus-RA segmentation, migration and coexistence story across performance tiers that enables Sales and customers to select the right platform and protects the installed base while creating pathways to new products.
• Create competitive “must-win” requirements and a quantified product value proposition for each proposed roadmap item.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, embedded systems or a related discipline.
• Experience in MCU product definition, system architecture, applications engineering or technical marketing.
• Strong knowledge of 32-bit MCU architectures and embedded-system trade-offs, including CPU, memory, analog/mixed-signal, low power, connectivity, security, packages, process technology, software and development tools.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct customer discovery and convert ambiguous needs into prioritized, testable product requirements.
• Experience building product business cases and influencing cross-functional decisions without direct authority.
• Understanding of U.S. customer engagement, regional market dynamics, distribution and channel models, competitive positioning, pricing pressure and long product-lifecycle requirements.
• Professional fluency in English, with strong written, presentation, executive-communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel regularly to customer and internal sites across the United States and collaborate effectively across Americas, Japan and global time zones.
•Strong cross-cultural communication skills with the ability to work closely and effectively with Japanese teams, demonstrating cultural awareness, patience, and relationship-building capabilities.
Preferred qualifications:
• Hands-on familiarity with Renesas RA and/or RX MCUs, especially RX200, RX600, RX700, RA4 and RA6 devices and their development ecosystems.
• Experience with home appliances, motor/inverter control, industrial automation, building automation, HMI, metering or IoT applications.
• Knowledge of Arm Cortex-M and proprietary MCU architectures, embedded security, capacitive touch, real-time control and functional-safety considerations.
• Experience through the full product lifecycle: concept, MRD, business case, gate approval, development, NPI, customer qualification, ramp and lifecycle management.
• Established network with U.S. OEMs, distributors, engineering teams, design houses, technology partners or industry ecosystems.
Success measures:
• Quality and timeliness of customer-validated MRDs and product proposals.
• Roadmap decisions supported by clear customer evidence, competitive differentiation and executable business cases.
• Lead-customer engagement, pre-NPI commitments and healthy design-win pipeline for priority products.
• On-time gate readiness and closure of critical requirement, cost and ecosystem gaps.
• Product adoption, revenue, margin and customer satisfaction versus the approved business case.
• Clear regional-to-global communication and strong stakeholder alignment.
