Sr Staff Software Engineer (Operations Software & Tools)

  • Full-time
  • Employment Type: Regular (PERM)
  • Remote Work Available: No

Job Description

Operations Engineering (OED) is the central team that builds the software, tools, and factory-automation. In this role, you'll design and deliver custom software and automation for OED and Operations — integrating with MES and equipment on the manufacturing floor — and project-manage their rollout end-to-end, partnering across OED, OPS, ISD, SW&D, and Product Line PGs to ship solutions that move factory efficiency, yield, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build & maintain custom software tools and automation for Operations Engineering and the manufacturing floor.
  2. Integrate shop-floor equipment and MES via SECS/GEM to enable equipment connectivity, tool control, and real-time monitoring.
  3. Develop & deploy containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes) that connect operations systems and PMO workflows.
  4. Drive projects from initiation through delivery — scope, schedule, risk, resourcing — interfacing with stakeholders across functions.
  5. Define & improve engineering and project-management processes and standards (issue tracking, requirements management, progress metrics).
  6. Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors on infrastructure, cloud, security, and shared tooling to keep solutions scalable and supportable.

Qualifications

MUST have

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 8–10 years in software development / engineering (semiconductor or factory-operations environment strongly preferred).
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals across Windows & Linux — core languages such as Python and C/C++ (C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Groovy, BASH a plus).
  • Hands-on factory-automation / equipment-integration experience — MES integration and equipment connectivity via SECS/GEM (SEMI E5/E30).
  • Containerization & deployment: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • English proficiency (written & verbal).

GOOD to have

  • Broader software toolchain familiarity (make files, compilers, assemblers, linkers).
  • Experience with shop-floor tool interfaces and real-time equipment monitoring at scale.
  • JIRA & Confluence for tracking, requirements, and process.
  • Japanese or Chinese language proficiency
