Senior Staff Test Engineer
- Full-time
- Employment Type: Regular (PERM)
- Remote Work Available: No
Job Description
As a Senior Staff Test Engineer, you will serve as a principal technical authority and visionary within the test development organization. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role involves defining long-term ATE roadmaps, architecting scalable hardware/software testing platforms, and leading cross-functional collaborations across Product, Quality, Design, and Validation engineering. You will be responsible for driving test strategy from initial product definition through global production release, ensuring our high-performance AI power solutions meet world-class quality and reliability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Test Roadmaps: Define and execute the technical strategy for next generation ATE test solutions to support critical NPI, quality, and capability initiatives.
- Architectural & Platforms Leadership: Design, implement, and govern standardized baseline software frameworks and advanced hardware architectures to scale capability and efficiency across the global test organization.
- Comprehensive Quality Planning: Lead organizational quality planning, executing rigorous hardware/software architectural reviews, and establishing design-for-test (DFT) guidelines for complex multi-die and power module products.
- Product Lifecycle Ownership: Spearhead product qualification, characterization, and cross-platform correlation strategies for cutting-edge power delivery technologies.
- Cross-Functional & Operations Sync: Partner with senior leadership in Product Engineering, Design, and Operations to orchestrate seamless, zero-friction production ramps and global manufacturing releases.
- Sustaining Execution & Yield Optimization: Provide executive-level technical oversight for complex production yield optimization, cost reduction, and high-priority customer return resolution strategies.
- Technical Mentorship & Governance: Serve as a primary mentor to Staff, Senior, and Junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and rigorous engineering practices.
- Ecosystem & Vendor Management: Strategically manage 3rd party relationships, foundry partnerships, and OSAT technical teams to ensure alignment with Renesas' roadmap and delivery milestones.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of progressive semiconductor experience (or Master's/Ph.D. with 8+ years), with a proven track record operating at a Staff or Senior Staff level.
- ATE Mastery: 10+ years of extensive experience architecting and developing automated test solutions on high-end ATE platforms, with deep expertise in platforms like the Advantest V93K, COHU Diamondx, SPEA DOT800, or ETS364.
- Mixed-Signal & Power Expertise: 8+ years of hands-on experience in ATE test development for complex analog, digital, high-power, and mixed-signal ICs. Direct experience with high-performance digital power or multi-die modules is highly desirable.
- Advanced Programming & Automation: Expert proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python, with a demonstrated history of architecting production-grade, reusable code templates, test APIs, and automation libraries.
- Bench & Characterization Proficiency: Extensive experience validating, debugging, and collecting characterization data on IC chips or power circuits using advanced lab instruments (Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Source Measure Units).
- Hardware Design Excellence: Proficient in high-performance ATE loadboard/probe card PCB layout design, utilizing advanced techniques for parasitic reduction, signal integrity, and high-current power delivery.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional roadmaps and drive success with external technical teams.
- Travel: Ability to travel 0-10% to support global manufacturing and vendor sites
