Job Description
The Enterprise Field Applications Engineer (FAE) is a highly skilled individual with a combination of deep technical ECAD expertise along with excellent communication skills who plays an indispensable part in bridging the gap between the Altium Enterprise sales team, Enterprise customers, and the Enterprise Implementation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ECAD presales activities including working directly with Enterprise Account Managers to qualify opportunities, demonstrating product functionality in the context of our overall solution, and developing customer success and deployment plans in support of Enterprise post-sale activity. The Enterprise FAE ensures that there is a full technical understanding of the ‘as-is’ customer environment and can discuss and demonstrate the value of Altium’s Enterprise solutions in the context of their specific ‘to-be’ requirements. This role includes the ability to demonstrate effectiveness in understanding both internal and external stakeholder requirements, define strong technical strategies in the context of the customers business goals and provide clear communication regarding the value of Altium solutions based on customer-specific technical requirements.
This position is located in Frisco, TX or La Jolla, CA offices and is on-site five days a week.
Key Competencies
- Strong knowledge of the EDA industry, its products and competitive landscape
- Proficiency with Altium design and data management tools preferred
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate Altium’s Enterprise goals and objectives
- Ability to think strategically and define how our proposed ECAD Data Management solution will help Altium and the customer achieve mutual success.
- Possess ability to be empathetic, understand specific customer requirements, how they think, understand what their goals are, why an ECAD Data Management solution is important to their business, and develop a proposed plan to address their specific needs
- Be proactive and leverage ECAD-specific technical expertise, project management and communication skills to work effectively with sales, deployment and extended technical and cross-functional teams
Position Requirements:
- Work closely with Enterprise Account Managers and Enterprise Implementation Managers to understand customer requirements and define technical solutions to support the strategy
- Conduct Discovery calls to understand current customer environment, business goals, technical challenges and Conduct product demonstrations, presentations and technical training sessions for customers
- Manage the technical strategy, ensuring the customer’s requirements and expectations are properly setServe as the primary technical point-of-contact for customers and assist them with product requirement definition, integration and specific adoption issues during presales stage
- Build excellent customer relationships and provide technical influence to help them to adopt recommended best practices
- Work with the Deployment team to help handle escalations of deployment and customer productivity blocking issues by coordinating related activities with Sales, R&D, and Customer Success (Tech Support)
- Collaborate with R&D/engineering teams to identify and resolve product/performance issues
- Participate in product development review meetings and represent voice of the customer
- Become a trusted technical advisor by proactively staying up-to-date on industry trends, competitive products and positioning
- Use in-depth knowledge of client, industry, business processes, and deep knowledge of the product and technical expertise to drive and increase adoption and usage of Altium Enterprise solutions
- Ability to create technical presentations and demonstrations to target individual customers on an as needed basis
- Travel to customer sites as needed to better understand requirements and/or provide onsite technical support
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree and experience
- At least 5 years of experience in ECAD presales Enterprise engagements, customer success, account management, and/or a client-facing role in EDA
- Experience with ECAD tools* including schematic and PCB design, project data management, library/component management, PLM integration, MCAD Collaboration, process definition and management, workflows and signal integrity analysis (*Altium tools preferred)
- Ability to engage customers at business level to drive alignment, and execution of ECAD strategy
- Ability to be highly effective in a team and matrix management organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel 25%
Additional Information
The expected annual pay range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
