Job Description

The Associate Application Engineer is an entry-level technical contributor role within the Application Engineering organization. This role focuses on hands-on laboratory work, silicon evaluation, hardware debug, and internal technical support under guidance from senior engineers. The position is intended to build core application engineering skills and progress toward independent Application Engineer responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

• Support application engineers in the evaluation, characterization, and validation of semiconductor products.

• Perform hands-on laboratory measurements using standard test equipment, including oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable power supplies, arbitrary/function generators, and network analyzers.

• Assist with test setup, probing, waveform capture, and basic interpretation of electrical measurements.

• Support hardware bring-up, debug, and failure analysis activities.

• Perform practical board-level work, including manual soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components, and basic hot-air rework and reflow techniques.

• Assist with schematic review and basic PCB layout understanding to support debug and analysis.

• Collect, organize, and document measurement data and results.

• Prepare internal technical documentation such as evaluation summaries, debug notes, and test reports.

• Support development and maintenance of evaluation boards, reference designs, and lab fixtures.

• Collaborate with design, validation, marketing, and field teams on internal technical tasks.

• Participate in internal technical discussions and customer support activities under supervision.

• Follow established lab safety, documentation, and engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

• Foundational understanding of analog and mixed-signal electronics (e.g., op-amps, power supplies, data converters).

• Hands-on academic, internship, or early-career experience using electrical test equipment.

• Practical experience with manual soldering and basic PCB rework; familiarity with reflow concepts.

• Ability to read and understand schematics and basic PCB layouts.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Clear written and verbal technical communication skills.

• Ability to follow direction, document work clearly, and operate in a structured engineering environment.

Preferred / Developing Skills

• Exposure to semiconductor evaluation, hardware validation, or lab automation.

• Familiarity with lab workflows, data logging, and analysis tools.

• Basic scripting or data processing experience (Python, Excel, MATLAB).

• Experience supporting senior engineers on complex debug activities.
