Job Description

About Operations Engineering Division (OED): OED is the central team that supports all Business Unit Design and Development teams, and other organizations including Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, Foundry Operations, and Test. OED provides a platform for managing all process technology and PDK development for both Internal and External Foundry processes. This strong and highly qualified team (mostly MS/PhD) adds strength in developing Test Technology, Foundry Operations, and Yield management. The team’s world class contributions lead to aggressive NPI strategies and continual cost and gross margin improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Foundry Technical Management will support and drive the fab activities, including Fab product transfer, Fab technology transfer, Change control, Safe launch as well as New Product Introductions (NPI), etc.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in foundry day-to-day operations and end-to-end fab processing, including deep understanding of fab modules, design / process interactions for split gate MOSFET and work cross-functionally within Renesas (Design, Yield Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Reliability, Supply Chain, etc) in pursuit of foundry performance excellence.

  • Foundry management:
    • Drive new foundry / fab transfer activities by managing foundry interface meetings.
    • Collaborate with foundry partners and internal design / process team on new technology bring-up.
    • Collaborate with foundry yield team to drive foundry product safe launch for new technology and key customers.
    • Coordinate weekly / quarterly foundry technical review meetings.
    • Manage foundry Quarterly Technical Reviews (QTR) and provide feedback on Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR).
    • Manage foundry production release waivers.
  • Change control management:
    • Manage foundry PCNs and Tool changes
    • Partner with Foundry Quality to assess, qualify, and roll over process changes.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to assess and track foundry process and waivers.
  • Expert Foundry process leader:
    • Have depth and breadth across process modules. Ie split gate MOSFET process.
    • Drive continual improvement towards better Quality, Cost, Cycle time, etc.
    • Experience with end-to-end fab processing, including deep understanding of critical module parameters and design/ process interaction.
    • Hands on experience taking a newly introduced technology/ product to benchmark process performance.
  • Quality and Customer Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs):
    • Partner with Foundry Quality and cross-functional teams to lead root cause identification, material disposition, and corrective action identification.
    • Successful corrective action will ensure no repeats of similar types of issues and strive to catch excursion at/ closest to the point of origin.
    • Zero defect/ escape mindset.
    • Foundry Operations’ representative for QA foundry audit
  • Other:
    • Customer obsessed: partner with Supply Chain, Foundry Quality and cross-functional team to ensure a Quality event doesn’t impact customer needs.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
    • Cost efficient mindset to minimize foundry scrap.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

master’s degree in electrical, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in Semiconductors (Fab Integration Engineering, Technology Development)
