Job Description

The Facilities Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing and leading technicians to ensure reliable 24/7 plant operations supporting continuous production. This role oversees critical mechanical utility systems including Cleanroom operations, HVAC, Exhaust systems, Compressed Dry Air (CDA), Process Cooling Water (PCW), and Building Management System (BMS) monitoring.

The incumbent ensures effective planning, coordination, organization, and control of preventive and corrective maintenance activities to maintain plant-wide systems in optimal condition and meet production demands on a 24-hour operational basis.
 

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage mechanical utility systems (Cleanroom, HVAC, Exhaust, CDA, PCW, BMS) to ensure stable 24/7 plant operations.

2. Own preventive and corrective maintenance programs to achieve high equipment reliability, uptime, and performance targets.

3. Analyze system performance and failures to eliminate recurring issues.

4. Plan and execute system upgrades, retrofits, and capacity expansion projects to support production growth.

5. Ensure mechanical systems comply with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements.

6. Control utility performance and cost through energy optimization, efficiency improvements, and contractor management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical facilities management within electronics, semiconductor, or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Strong technical skills in of HVAC, Cleanroom systems, Exhaust systems, CDA, PCW, and BMS operations.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian regulatory compliance (DOSH, DOE).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, and available for 24/7 emergency support.

Good to have:

  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, EHS practices, or environmental compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge Power BI or AI tools is an added advantage.
