Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and technically strong Senior Staff System Architect to define, develop, and lead advanced semiconductor-based system solutions for next-generation robotics applications. In this role, you will shape system architectures that address the evolving needs of intelligent robotic systems across industrial automation, mobile robots, collaborative robots (cobots), humanoids, and other autonomous platforms.
Working at the intersection of market needs, customer applications, and product engineering, you will ensure our semiconductor technologies deliver optimized performance, real-time capabilities, safety, and system-level integration for advanced robotic platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and architect system-level solutions for robotic applications—including humanoids, AMRs, cobots, and industrial robots—using MCUs, SoCs, power ICs, sensors, actuators, and connectivity components.
- Translate robotics-specific needs (e.g., motion control, perception, autonomy, safety) into system requirements and contribute to product definitions and technology roadmaps.
- Align with Product Groups (PGs) and collaborate cross-functionally with solution marketing, application engineering, and R&D to ensure system consistency and customer value.
- Specify HW/SW partitioning, sensor fusion, motor and servo control strategies, real-time communication protocols, and power management.
- Develop solution specifications, system requirement documents (SRDs), simulations, and reference designs tailored to robotic system architectures.
- Perform system-level modeling and simulation using tools such as Simulink, PLECS, SPICE, and thermal/magnetic analysis as applicable.
- Lead or support customer engagements, co-development projects, and advanced robotics proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to robotics-relevant standards, including functional safety, real-time control, and diagnostics.
- Track robotics technology trends (e.g., collaborative robotics, humanoid mobility, AI at the edge, ROS 2) and integrate relevant insights into solution strategies.
- Develop and maintain application roadmaps aligned with customer problems, robotics market trends, and PG strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate technology fit and develop reference use cases.
- Organize internal trainings and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on robotics systems and emerging technologies.
- Engage with startups, research institutes, and robotics ecosystems to explore emerging requirements, co-develop prototypes, and influence future product directions.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded systems or semiconductor-based solution development, with a strong focus on robotics applications.
- Proven experience in system architecture, motion control, sensor integration, and embedded design for robotics platforms—preferably including humanoids or highly dynamic autonomous systems.
- Deep understanding of real-time control, motor drives, robotic communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, CANopen, ROS 2, TSN), and safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849).
- Proficient in system modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with RTOS, robotics middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS 2), firmware architecture, and AI/ML integration at the edge.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers, business leaders, and multidisciplinary technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with humanoid robots, AI-enhanced robotics, visual SLAM, or sensor fusion algorithms.
- Background in digital twin modeling, real-time simulation, or cyber-physical systems.
- Hands-on experience with robotics platforms, development kits, or prototyping frameworks.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to lead cutting-edge robotics system development, including work on humanoid and next-gen autonomous platforms.
- A collaborative and dynamic environment where your architecture decisions shape real-world robotic systems.
- Flat hierarchies, strong technical ownership, and global visibility.
- Competitive compensation, flexible working arrangements, and international development opportunities.
