Job Description

Reporting directly to the CMO, the VP, Product Marketing role is responsible for influencing the direction and make-up of the company’s go-to-market strategy and continued product developments. You will lead all aspects of the product marketing functions, as well as providing sales enablement and strategy teams with content & messaging, and competitive intelligence while building upon a great foundation of global awareness, recognition, and demand to scale the business. As part the marketing team, this person works closely with the Executive Leadership team and will collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, government and education affairs, sales, partners, and services teams. It’s a big role in a company that is growing profitably and rapidly, at double digit rates.

  • Establish an outstanding & proactive Product Marketing function serving as the linch pin between Product and Sales, while defining a more Solutions/Portfolio based approach to the market.
  • Optimize the value proposition of the company's offerings by defining and implementing marketing strategies that ensure ease of accessibility to the right information, at the right time, to the right individual.
  • Partner with product, marketing, and sales peers to craft overall product vision and Go-to-Market strategies evangelizing the Voice-of-the-Customer to build the ideal product experiences for Renaissance’s subscribers, including product packaging, bundling, and pricing.

Measures of Success:

  • Establish and maintain Renaissance as leading brand in K12 education technology (including but not limited to NPS scores and industry studies)
  • Successfully launch new products, providing complete bill of materials including features and benefits, and sales enablement tools and resources to accurately position in the marketplace and within our existing product portfolio.
  • Increase product portfolio for existing customer base as well as new product adoption and unseating the competition.


In this role, you will:

  • In collaboration with Sales and Product teams, lead core messaging and the direction of a ground-breaking go-to-market strategy that will drive continued scale of the business.
  • Own all aspects for Product Marketing - positioning, messaging, naming, pricing and packaging – clearly communicate the outstanding value proposition of Renaissance’s products, develop narratives for analyst frameworks, and align product pricing and packaging offers to customer value.
  • Drive highly competitive differentiation, awareness, and thought leadership that generates strong customer engagement. 
  • Serve as the internal champion and business leader for the customer in all current and future product offerings.
  • Identify market needs and customer trends; Research competitors’ products and maintain competitive comparisons and evaluations.
  • Develop product profiles, competitive analysis, presentations, demos, white papers, & product updates for organizational marketing materials.
  • Develop, lead, and mentor a high-performing product marketing team to drive the execution of strategic marketing plans and to meet Renaissance’s overall business objectives.
  • Work closely with the Chief Product Officer, product management, and Engineering teams to build and launch products globally, influencing product direction across geographies, segments, and technology categories.
  • Storytelling – simplify and distill the value of Renaissance’s technology and enable others to deliver a compelling story that sets Renaissance apart in a constantly evolving market.
  • Spokesperson – represent Renaissance at industry events, press interviews, analyst inquiries, and sales engagements.
  • Work closely with events team to develop content and messaging for events, conferences, and keynotes.
  • Represent and provide content for Renaissance in blogs, social media, and forums, and encourage social community growth and participation.
  • Create tools and resources to identify gaps/opportunities, positioning against the competition.
  • Align with the strategic partnership organization to evolve key co-marketing strategies.
  • Actively participate in Renaissance Advisory Board (content and presentations at meetings).
  • Plan and execute focus groups for purposes of market data and the voice of the customer.
  • Plan and oversee product marketing campaigns and promotions to meet product revenue goals and customer retention.
  • Collaborate with international marketing team to position Renaissance as global leader in ed tech.
  • Partner with field marketing team to provide content, resources, and messaging for regional programs and initiatives.
  • Communicate product strategy and roadmap to the broader marketing team.


For this role, you have:

  • Executive level presence influencing, developing, and effectively executing product marketing programs, strategies and initiatives for global, enterprise software, SaaS, and/or online services businesses. K12, EdTech, and/or Education experience preferred.
  • Global experience launching products creating applicable marketing materials and providing guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to define highly successful B2B go-to-market strategies, position and launch new products, enable sales and channel partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high performance team passionate about accountability and exceeding expectations.
  • Proven reputation of establishing relationships with customers and internal leadership (Sales, Product, etc.) at all levels, along with effective interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. A believer in SaaS as a team sport.
  • Ability to deliver innovative marketing programs and pipeline-building activities that align to revenue goals.
  • Public speaking skills – experience delivering keynote speeches, leading sales discussions, and driving compelling conversations with analysts and journalists.
