Job Description

Renaissance Learning, the leader in K12 assessment and learning analytics, is seeking a Director - User Experience

Core Responsibilities: 


  • Lead and manage a group of designers and user researchers working on Agile/Scrum teams
  • Establish overall company standards for design process, serving as the lead creative designer for Renaissance Learning
  • Participate in the brainstorming and creation of concepts for best-in-class user experiences
  • Serve as the Designer and UX lead on major strategic projects, playing a key role in designing the software built by responsible teams
  • Translate abstract concepts into simple, elegant and innovative designs expressed in sketches, diagrams and rapid prototypes for desktop browser, tablet and mobile devices
  • Design the architecture, navigation, user flows, information and interaction solutions that effectively and directly solve user needs
  • Reports to the Chief Product Officer and will work closely with all Product Managers and scrum teams
  • Assist the Renaissance team in adopting and using Lean UX
  • Act as a tireless advocate for the user



About You:

  • 5-10+ years’ experience in interactive and visual design for software or internet solution companies, with a preference for education technology or B2B solutions
  • Superior interpersonal skills able to bridge teams and personalities spanning art and engineering, knowing when to apply patience and advocacy, and how to pay attention to detail without losing site of the big picture
  •  Strong, analytical problem solving, decision-making, and leadership skills

  • In-depth understanding of user-centered design principles and tools

  • Proven results with creative solutions (portfolio evaluation)

  • Strong experience with software focused companies

  • Excellent communication, writing, grammar, editing and proofreading skills

  • Ed tech experience a plus
