Development Intern

  • Intern

Company Description

About RI:  Relief International is a leading nonprofit organization working in roughly 20 countries to relieve poverty, ensure well-being and advance dignity. We specialize in fragile settings, responding to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty.

Relief International combines humanitarian and development approaches to provide immediate services while laying the groundwork for long-term impact. Our signature approach — which we call the RI Way—emphasizes local participation, an integration of services, strategic partnerships and a focus on civic skills. In this way, we empower communities to find, design and implement the solutions that work best for them.

Job Description

Relief International is seeking an intern to assist its Communications and Development team in all fundraising activities related to individuals, corporations and family foundations. The Development Intern will primarily support the team on research, event planning, relationship management and administrative tasks as needed.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in an International NGO. The intern will work closely with the team in Washington, D.C. and have the opportunity to interact with others across the organization. The Development Intern will learn how an organization approaches and cultivates relationships with individuals and corporations. A growing portion of Relief International’s funding comes from private sector support and, as such, the Development Intern will be part of a small team that makes it possible for RI to continue its work, serving people in some of the world’s most fragile settings. Students may receive course credit for internship.
