Job Description

Position:  Executive/Administrative Intern

Location:  Washington, DC


Position Summary:

The Intern would assist the Executive/Administrative Assistant with tasks related to the Executive Office and general office administrative tasks. Relief International is looking for an intern to start as soon as possible. The intern would be unpaid, but RI offers a travel stipend and academic credit, if applicable.


Position Responsibilities & Duties:

This role is ideal for someone who wishes to gain experience in NGO management and see the “business” side of things.

  • Assist the Executive/Administrative Assistant in tasks such as:
    • Board Outreach
    • Gathering meeting materials
    • Procurement/Logistics
    • Scheduling
    • Travel Arrangements
    • Recording meeting minutes
    • Ordering supplies
    • Office organization
    • Finance and Accounting related matters
    • Keeping track of RI’s legal status in various locations


  • 10-15 hours a week preferred. Schedule is flexible
  • General knowledge of world affairs and international/intergovernmental institutions
  • Ability and willingness to handle office support work
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge in Access database management preferred
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and carefully review work for accuracy; strong attention to detail is required. 
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to act independently to identify and analyze problems and recommend solutions
