Job Description

Housekeeping Supervisor Job Summary: The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees all aspects of a busy department, working behind the scenes to care for guest rooms and common areas.  From managing the safe and efficient use of resources to coordinating housekeeping teams, the Housekeeping Supervisor always keeps the guest's interest in mind and ensures that room make-ups, turn downs, and room turnovers meet the standards and expectations of Twin Farms. 

Responsibilities of the Housekeeping Supervisor:

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing operations related to regular renewing, refreshing, straightening, cleaning, clearing, and sanitizing of accommodation and common areas.
  • Working during weekends: Friday-Sunday (other two days are flexible), and Holidays is required 
  • Working closely wither other departments to coordinate services for timely and efficient room preparations and turnover. 
  • Seeing that rooms are fully inspected for readiness - ensuring all details are properly managed. 
  • Ensuring that housekeeping staff is adequately restocking inventory - linens, towels and bathrobes, bath amenities, beverages, and other products.
  • Training staff in a lateral and guest service disposition, as well as safe and efficient work practices- especially in use of vehicle, cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensuring that PPE (personal protection equipment) is properly utilized per job requirement and appropriate care, maintenance, and storage of PPE is routinely observed. 
  • Conducting any other duties as assigned or as needed with regard to cleaning operations. 

Qualifications

Housekeeping Supervisor Qualifications:

  • Able to establish, maintain, and follow through on priorities despite frequent interruptions, changes, and unexpected stresses; can motivate to work independently as well part of a team
  • Skilled in training and/or mentoring staff in practices, procedures, policies and character. 
  • Skilled in clear and open communication while directing and supporting staff - including ability to understand, translate, and adapt housekeeping teams to information/changes with a positive and proactive attitude. 

Required Education and/or Training for the Housekeeper Supervisor:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 
  • Must have flexible work schedule, morning and evenings, holidays and extended shifts during busier months. 
  • Cleaning experience that includes a familiarity with the safe use of cleaning products as well as a basic knowledge of cleaning tools/equipment operation.
  • Previous guidance in following basic health and safety procedures. 
  • Minimum of a High School, vocational, or equivalency degree.

Required Working Conditions for the Housekeeping Department: 

  • Coming and going in all weather conditions outside- to transport self, laundry, and cleaning supplies from room to room/cottage to cottage.
  • Regularly lifting and carrying of 10 to 15 pounds with occasional lifting of 30 to 40 pounds.
  • Constant walking, bending, reaching, moving around, and pushing/carrying equipment.  Also requires frequently reaching, bending, and stooping. 
  • Work is conducted on feet for the entire shift.
