Relais & Chateau at Thornbury Castle are seeking a Head Chef to join our talented team of chefs. You will be working in a unique and beautifully restored Castle and four Red Star boutique hotel.  Mentored by our exceptional Executive Chef; Carl Cleghorn, you will be creating truly memorable and impressive 5*dishes for our guests.

About Us

Set on 15 acres of beautiful land, Thornbury Castle Hotel is the only Tudor Castle operating as a hotel in England. The Castle has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment program bringing back to life the regal grandeur of its past. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers 27 rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant, bar and two unique meeting and conference spaces. our food style is modern British using the best locally sourced produce from our kitchen garden and around the southwest. We operate 7 days a week, serving breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, and Sunday lunch as well as the occasional wedding and functions.

Job Description

  • Full time permanent position
  • Salary from £40,000 per annum
  • A truly talented Chef with a professional approach, great passion and flair for the industry and food.
  • Responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen staff.
  • Provide direction to the kitchen staff and support the Executive Chef.
  • Support the Executive Chef in the design and development of menus.
  • Work with the Executive Chef to oversee the overall quality of the food service.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, health & safety and food sanitation codes and standards.
  • Experience at 3 AA Rosette or 1 Michelin star kitchen is essential. Minimum of 4 years as Senior Sous or Sous Chef at this level.
  • Bringing a calm mature approach with a resilient nature that thrives under pressure.
  • Natural ability as a chef with outstanding attention for detail.
  • Dedicated excellent team player with strong communication skills.

  • An additional share of service charge and tips (about 4k per year. Paid every 2 months)
