Job Description

The Terrace at The Charlotte Inn is home to some of New England's most acclaimed cuisine, and seeks a new Executive Chef to run the best fine dining restaurant on Martha's Vineyard. The Terrace is open nightly to inn guests and the public for dinner. The elegant setting is both a glass-paneled conservatory dining room and beneath the stars on our outdoor patio covered in lattice. Candidates for the position should be detail-oriented, dedicated, flexible, organized, friendly, and have previous fine dining experience. All employees must demonstrate efficiency, courteousness, professionalism, and sincere friendliness to maintain our high standards of service and hospitality. 

As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for carrying on the excellent reputation of the restaurant and create a menu that compliments the old-fashioned atmosphere of the inn. The goal of every employee is to ensure that guests have an enjoyable, pleasant, memorable, and relaxing stay. Being a team player is essential, in addition to having a neat, clean, and professional appearance. A high level of common sense and cheerful personality are a must.

This is a career position which offers an excellent wage. A long-term & year-round Executive Chef is much preferred, and housing is a strong possibility for the right individual. Being flexible with the schedule is a must – including working days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Potential for part ownership of the restaurant can also be discussed. 

 

Qualifications

As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Responsibilities will include creating a menu, assisting with hiring/scheduling staff, managing food/beverage inventory, and communicating between departments to ensure the best and most efficient service. A positive attitude and passion for hospitality are required. Candidates must exhibit very good English-speaking skills & have at least two professional references.
