Job Description

Interested in coming to work at New Zealand's most important historic estate?  

We're looking for a fantastic, motivated all-rounder to join our team immediately in a full-time capacity. This can be permanent, or just for the summer, based on your requirements. 

The primary function of this role is to provide highly personalized service that complements the exceptional cuisine, accommodation and ambiance of Otahuna Lodge. This role will focus primarily on evening dinner and beverage service, so a background in fine dining and wine service is beneficial, but more important than specific experience is a willingness to learn and provide the best possible hospitality.

Your tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • Providing the best possible first impression with guest meet and greet and introduction to the property and their accommodations.
  • Selecting wines, recording and maintaining cellar stock.
  • Host and serve pre-dinner drinks and canapés.
  • Typing up and printing daily menus, clean-up of kitchen, set up for morning breakfast.
  • Breakfast and coffee/tea service as requested.
  • Poolside and lunch service as requested.
  • Polish glassware, cutlery and silver/brass as necessary.
  • See guests off appropriately, presenting with invoices as necessary, assisting with luggage, offering directions and recommendations for onward travels.
  • Suite turndown duties.

Qualifications

To apply for this job you must:

  • Have excellent presentation, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Have your own reliable transport; we're located in Tai Tapu, 10 minutes from Lincoln or 25 Minutes from central Christchurch.
  • Be available for a minimum of 4 shifts per week.
  • Have some experience working in seated restaurant dining.
  • Have some barista experience. (will train the right candidate)
