Job Description

Position Summary:

The Director of Operations at The Point is responsible for all operational components of the property as part of the senior management team, i.e.: Housekeeping, Grounds, and the Guest Service Manager and to maintain Forbes 5-star level service throughout. This position must remain flexible with their availability and will need to identify operational holes and fill in accordingly. There is an expectation for this position to be an effective leader and self-manager with his or her staff members. Daily, weekly, and monthly reports must be completed on-time while also micro-focusing on each of the department’s monthly budget to ultimately come at or under the allotted dollar amount. The Director of Operations will be engaging on a direct level with both staff and guests.

Organizational Fit:

The Director of Operations will report directly to the General Manager. There will be daily meetings to review and execute effective property-wide logistics. This position is the back up to the Assistant General Manager when he or she is unavailable. The management of guests, relative to housekeeping, grounds and guest services when they arrive on the property, Exclusive Booking logistics prior to and once arrived will be the responsibility of The Director of Operations.

General Scope of Work:

Expectations

· Daily meeting with senior management team.

· Weekly documented meeting with subordinates.

· Weekly staff review with GM.

· Daily check-in with every operations departments.

o It will be expected that the Director of Operations will physically be in and supervising, engaging, etc. in the following departments every day.

· Building & Grounds

· Housekeeping

· Guest Services

· Monthly ops strategy review with the AGM.

o Outline issues

o Recommend corrective actions

o Provide specific improvements, enhancements.

· Lead and document a weekly operations meeting with key managers.

· Back-up the AGM in leading the AM and PM briefing.

· Make, at minimum one contact with every guest as representative of the senior property leadership.

· Visit/inspect every operations area with the department head, caretaker/grounds manager once a week and document the visit.

· On-call availability and ability to cover when there is a hole in the following departments,

o Housekeeping

o Guest Services

o Grounds

· Ability to work flexible hours and self-manage personal schedule in such a manner that there is total awareness of the property operating levels.

o Variable shifts from 7am-10pm as agreed on and communicated in writing to the GM.

· Provide a monthly safety report.

o Areas of concern

o Actual issues

o Suggested preventative safety plan

· Main custodian of the following and full compliance of all Forbes standards and employee manual.

o Provide a monthly report overviewing areas that were struggles.

o Provide immediate follow-up, training and communication to staff that are not in compliance.

o Recommend new policies for better, smoother operations.

· Create clear, written, quarterly goals for each area in the DO's management.
