Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Quality at our CA facility.

This position will ensure that laboratory testing operations are conducted in accordance with company established procedures in an effective and efficient manner.

The incumbent must insure that testing procedures are in compliance with customer and national accreditations that have been granted to AFS.

Essential Functions

•Supervise and schedule all Laboratory, inspection, and testing activities in order to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
•Design and prepare procedures to support Laboratory operations.
•Maintain effective Laboratory operations selection, development, training and motivation of personnel.
•Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering and other support departments on Inspection procedures and operations.
•Participate and assist in the performance of customer and Industry accreditation audits of testing and calibration issues.
•Coordinate and conduct customer and accreditation audits of the laboratory and other operations.
•Ensure that Gage calibration system is effective and complies with company operating procedures.
•Ensure that inspection and testing operations are performed within guidelines of customer and national accreditation requirements.
•Maintain a record and documentation system for testing and calibration that complies with both Alcoa Fastening Systems and customer accreditation requirements.
•Ensure the inspection and test lab system is in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and NADCAP requirements.

Qualifications

Basic QualificationsEducation/Experience/Skills

•Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in Engineering, Quality Assurance or Business.
•5 years of lab supervisory required.
•Must have experience with mechanical inspection equipment such as micrometers, Optical Comparators, Hardness testers, and Torque testers.
•Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
•Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications•

Knowledge of fasteners testing equipment and practices, including tensile, torque, vibration, hardness testing, also must have knowledge of metallurgical evaluation procedures.
