Job Description

Red Wing Shoe Company is looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant, supporting all revenue related activity, working closely with our sales team and the broader corporate accounting team on reporting & revenue recognition processes.

  • Understand company’s business and provide expertise in all revenue accounting functions and to execute and support accurate and timely financial reporting, optimize revenue recognition processes and communicate policies across the organization
  • Drive and support the month end close process, including preparing relevant journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and account analysis or period over period account fluctuations
  • Support internal revenue reporting needs for key stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and maintain monthly reconciliations.
  • Assist with audits as primary resource for revenue accounting function; including the compilation and preparation of supporting schedules, work papers, and financial reports related to areas of responsibility
  • Identify, analyze, and contribute to process and system improvements, including ERP system enhancement and departmental projects
  • Define and communicate revenue accounting processes and documentation in support of Finance and organizational needs
  • Liaison with relevant business units and leadership to ensure an environment of learning and compliance exists within financial policies and procedures
  • Participate and/or lead various Corporate Accounting and/or cross-functional projects to improve the overall efficiency, timeliness and accuracy of financial processes
  • Perform all job duties while maintaining compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements including, but not limited to US GAAP and IRS

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A/B.S.) required; preferably in the area of Finance, Accounting or a related field from an accredited College or University 
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting and month-end close functions with progressive responsibility.
  • Experience in process improvements and developing systematic processes.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required, as well as the ability to optimize business technology tools to improve business processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and in writing, debate, evaluate and document complex process issues, ability to think quickly and present to an audience
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment
  • Able to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers and communicate effectively across the organization and to upper management
  • High professional standards and personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and achieve success with minimal supervision
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and documentation skills with the ability to be clear and concise
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy,
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments and management levels within the company and outside partners.
  • Desire to grow in leadership capacity as the Company grows
