GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations for an area(s) in a unionized manufacturing facility to achieve key performance metrics: safety, quality, cost, delivery as well as driving improvements to production processes and employee engagement/morale. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement goals and action plans for area(s) of responsibility to achieve business objectives: safety, quality, cost, delivery and people.

• Drive continuous improvement of operations through effective assessment of capabilities and maximization of resources and utilization of LEAN tools to improve current processes.

• Drive continuous improvement of human resources through effective assessment of capabilities, development of internal resources and leveraging external sourcing where needed to achieve objectives. 

• Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures. (e.g., safety, quality, finance, human resources).

• Drive employee engagement, effective communications and positive employee relations.

• Insure effective collaboration with other business partners in the manufacturing site and other manufacturing locations/ business functions.

• Achieve financial objectives for area of responsibility by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

• Effectively engage in research and development of new/improved processes and machinery as opportunities arise.

• Ensure effectiveness of the staff through communications; coaching/counseling; monitoring and appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures; selection, training and development; and maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent Red Wing Shoe Company within the community.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
