Job Description

Red Wing Shoe Company is looking for a Director of Global Safety & Security. This position will be based in Red Wing, MN with some ability to work remotely. This is a new role and is a great opportunity for someone with experience to make a global impact.

The Director of Global Safety & Security is responsible for establishing a strong culture of prevention, protection and compliance for all Red Wing Shoe Company regions and locations. They have global responsibility for strategic leadership and management of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and processes as well as security practices, both proactive and reactive to potential risk of violence. The Director of Global Safety & Security is also responsible for development and implementation of operational performance metrics, policies, procedures, and risk control strategies that ensure a safe, secure and healthy work environment, regulatory compliance and limit the loss exposure of the company. 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Services, Engineering, Health Sciences, or related field, and a minimum of 10 years of experience leading an HSE function; Or equivalent education and experience. Master’s degree is a plus. In addition, candidates must have advanced safety designations from an accredited program (CSP, COSS, CSHO, CSHS)

The right candidate will have experience in successfully establishing and implementing EHS vision, strategies, and programs on a large scale; experience managing regional and/or global EHS programs, policies and procedures; experience working globally and cross culturally, with locations in multiple countries; experience in successfully leading teams

Candidates must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization; be skilled at building organizational talent and skills in EHS; excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to modify message and delivery based on the audience; demonstrated ability to get results through collaboration with organizational partners; ability to understand the business and appropriately interpret results to understand issues and provide recommended actions; possesses a strong ethical framework, enabling efficient and effective decision making; ability to effectively drive innovation and successfully lead organizational change in implementation of EHS programs; strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite 

Global travel is required to understand safety and security needs worldwide. Passport Required.
