Job Description

Ensure inventory accuracy for all manufacturing raw materials including but not limited to strict adherence to cycle count process, administration of inventory system data inputs and integrity, proactive identification and remediation of inaccuracies and leadership for continuous process improvements.  The individual in this role will be part of a broader Materials Management team with the goal of providing “Best in Class” results for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Counting---must know how to count in various increments:  1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s etc.  be able to recite prime numbers and understand the Fibonacci sequence.

  2. Inventory –

  • Point person for Cycle counts and Root Cause investigations of variances.

  • Monitor inventory moves from Raw Material Warehouse to Plant 2 and interdepartmental moves within Plant 2 to ensure proper classification.

  • Measure performance of Inventory accuracy and underlying causes of errors.

  • Assess and cross-functionally communicate inventory variances to ensure that they are properly accounted for and charged to the correct accounts.

  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining Inventory internal controls.

  • Review inventory transaction codes and request necessary changes/additions within Movex to improve system efficiency/accuracy.

  • Review and verify process flows for materials and make recommendations to improve efficiency.

  • Maintain analysis of negative balances and root causes including BOM issues and assuring substitution forms are properly completed on the line.

  • Point person for Inventory adjustment questions and requests.

  • Work with Plant Management to ensure cycle counts and year-end physical inventories are completed in accordance with established procedures.

  • Work with Warehouse and Production management and hourly employees to review inventory receiving/shipping processes and conduct monthly audits to ensure company documented processes are being followed.

  • Complete the Movex transactions required for operations support

3.  Manufacturing –

  • Maintain the status of Material Orders in Movex to ensure they are current

  • Perform detailed research, reporting and troubleshooting of manufacturing variances. 

  • Review, investigate and determine root cause of cancelled case report issues.

  • Work with Scheduling personnel to transact cancelled MO’s 

  • Process daily truck report from Potosi

4.  Process Improvements – Recommend and implement system and inventory process/tool changes to improve accuracy of inventory and reporting.

5.  Annual Physical Inventory – Assist with leading the annual physical inventory including but not limited to preparing count sheets and coordinating personnel to conduct counts of raw material and WIP.

6.  Special Projects – Lead and/or participate on LEAN Project Teams to improve inventory and manufacturing processes (e.g., reducing inventory, improving accuracy, improving material flow).

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent and three to five years related experience/training (e.g., inventory management, purchasing).  Associate or Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing (footwear industry preferred)

  • Good Listening, Verbal/Written Communication and Collaboration Skills

  • Drive for Results and Superior Execution Skills (attention to detail)

  • Excellent computer skills especially in Microsoft Excel

  • Exceptional Analytical Skills

  • Strong demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop and implement solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.

  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • ASCM (formerly APICS) certification a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds

  • Frequent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours as needed to address business demands
