Job Description

Red Wing Shoe Company is looking for a Product Creation Engineer. This role is responsible for providing engineering support for the Creation, Design, Development, and Engineering for global footwear development, from Product Brief to Commercialization, while continuously improving Margin Enhancement and product innovation.

The Product Creation Engineer develops molds for insoles, footbeds, metguards, midsoles, and outsoles, as well as lasts and toe caps; Develops and procures 3D rapid prototyping; Collaborates with Merchants, Designers, Developers and Pattern Engineers to ensure that detailed specs/Tech Packages have precise information; Ensures product is fit, field and functionally tested and passes all internal/external testing before product launch; Acts as liaison and consultant between Product Creation and Supply Chain, including outside Suppliers/Vendors; manages projects including managing to timelines and communicating the status of products, key dates, and milestones of the GTM (Go-To-Market) process.

 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university and 5-7 years of CAD engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2-3 years of experience in footwear manufacturing preferred. Candidates will also have demonstrated experience in applying critical thinking to successfully convert drawings and sketches of moderate to high levels of complexity into fabricated parts.

Candidates will have a high level of proficiency in CAD engineering with the ability to independently take a project from start to finish with limited guidance and in a cost-effective manner; Strong knowledge of machining, casting, molding and fabrication processes; Demonstrated ability to get results through collaboration with organizational partners; Ability to plan and organize work to meet established deadlines; Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, applying own knowledge and experience and that of others to find solutions to unique problems; Good written & verbal communication skills are essential; Knowledge of footwear terms and processes is essential; Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Email is essential.

Although this position is primarily office based, it will spend some time in the production environment. Some international travel is required, and candidates must have or be able to obtain a USA passport.
