Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide general management and strategic leadership for all aspects of manufacturing operations at Plant 2 in Red Wing, MN to drive achievement of business objectives and continuous improvement of people and processes. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement goals and action plans assuring alignment within US manufacturing, Supply Chain and other business partners to achieve business objectives: safety, quality, cost, delivery and people.

  2. Drive continuous improvement of systems/processes and people through implementation of LEAN methods as well as effective assessment of capabilities, development of strategies/action plans including change management and maximization of internal/external resources.

  3. Insure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures. (e.g., safety, quality, finance, human resources, legal).

  4. Deliver manufacturing requirements to ensure on time, on brief, on cost, on quality production of new and improved footwear products.

  5. Drive employee engagement, effective communications and positive employee/labor relations.

  6. Insure effective collaboration within Plant 2, other manufacturing locations, product creation and other business functions.

  7. Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  8. Ensure effective plant engagement in research and development of new/improved processes and machinery.

  9. Partner with product creation, global sourcing and other key stakeholders to determine and execute US Sourcing strategy.

  10. Ensure effectiveness of the staff through communications; salary administration; coaching/counseling; monitoring and appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing policies and procedures; selection, training and development; and maintaining a safe, secure and legally compliant work environment.

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously develop leadership, technical and business skills.

  • Represent Red Wing Shoe Company within the community. 

  • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university and seven to ten years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
