Job Description

Responsible for developing and executing logistics operations strategies to achieve Company objectives, driving continuous improvement and building functional capabilities for the future. 

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans for Logistics that drive results and achieve Supply Chain and overall Company objectives.
  • Develop and execute strategy to optimize transportation effectiveness including but not limited to modes, vendors, contract terms.
  • Continuously analyze warehousing operations and identify, prioritize and execute strategies and action plans to drive opportunities for improved safety, quality, cost, delivery and people. 
  • Develop and execute strategies to assure network optimization to meet all Omni-channel business and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes (including automation) and people through effective assessment of capabilities and development/implementation of strategies to improve them.
  • Insure compliance with RWSC policies/procedures/standards and regulatory requirements including both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., suppliers, vendors, customers).
  • Achieve financial objectives through exceptional execution of such things as forecasting; budgeting; cost controls; variance analysis and remediation; inventory management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify issues and develop action plans that drive achievement of overall Company imperatives.
  • Manage, empower and develop an effective functional team through appropriate selection, communication, coaching, training, reward/recognition and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate continuity plans are in place for critical operations, materials and finished goods.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes or programs.
  • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication software, ERP and other systems.
  • Maintain quality standards by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system requirements.
  • Uphold and role model Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values, policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard the assets of the Company, treating all technical developments, operational data, information on salaries and wages, customer lists, and similar data as required.
  • Comply with all governmental laws and regulations which pertain to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Assure Company awareness of industry standards and new/innovative practices by establishing and maintaining strong industry networks and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and seven to ten years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent Analytical Skills and Financial Savvy
  • Strong computer skills
  • WMS and ERP systems expertise
  • Distribution leadership experience in high volume consumer package goods (footwear industry preferred)
  • Drive for results and superior execution
  • Excellent team development skills
  • Experience managing in union and non-union working environments
  • International experience including ocean freight, warehousing, 3PL, intermodal, truck transportation / drayage, customs, homeland security, CT-PAT, etc. etc.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • APICS certification a plus
