Job Description

Responsible for providing leadership for the Supply Chain engineering function and  developing/implementing engineering strategy that optimizes manufacturing capabilities and enables achievement of safety, quality, cost, service and people expectations.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements engineering strategy to optimize manufacturing and distribution capabilities including but not limited to assessment of current state, identification of future state needs, research of external capabilities/technologies, formulation and implementation of action plans.

  • Oversees key projects assuring execution to plan, early identification/remediation of corrective measures and engagement of appropriate stakeholders.

  • Provides engineering expertise including but not limited to automation, equipment design, process controls, data analysis, regulatory compliance, technical people skill requirements and materials.

  • Develops and submits proposals to management for approval including consideration of all people, process and equipment elements.

  • Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes and people through effective assessment of capabilities and development/implementation of strategies to improve them.

  • Identifies and leverages external vendors as needed to perform research or other applicable studies or support and collaborates with SC Sourcing to negotiate contracts.

  • Develops and implements goals and action plans that align with Supply Chain and other business partners to achieve business objectives: safety, quality, cost, service, people.

  • Insure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures. (e.g., safety, quality, finance, human resources).

  • Insure effective collaboration within Supply Chain, with product creation and all other business partners.

  • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and effectively partnering with other stakeholders.

  • Manage, empower and develop an effective functional team through appropriate selection, communication, coaching, training, reward/recognition and enforcement of company policies and procedures.

  • Ensure appropriate continuity plans are in place for critical components, materials and manufacturing processes.

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication software, ERP and other systems.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system standards.

  • Uphold and role model Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values, policies and procedures.

  • Safeguard the assets of the Company, treating all technical developments, operational data, information on salaries and wages, customer lists, and similar data as required.

  • Comply with all governmental laws and regulations which pertain to the responsibilities of the position.

  • Assure Company awareness of industry standards and new/innovative practices by establishing and maintaining strong industry networks and continuous learning.

  • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and seven to ten years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
