Job Description

Organize and assist supervision of banquet servers, bartenders, and house people to ensure all banquet events are executed smoothly and ensure high quality guest service and 100% satisfaction.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute and/or supervise the essential duties & responsibilities of a banquet server, bartender, and house person.
  • Ensure effectiveness of the staff through communications; coaching, counseling; monitoring and appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures; and provide educational and development opportunities.
  • Direct operation of department in manager’s absence; Acting as an ambassador to client, guests, and vendors.

  • Investigate and resolve service complaints to achieve high guest satisfaction and peak staff performance.

  • Ensure all banquet spaces are clean and organized; develop, implement, and enforce daily, weekly, and monthly assigned projects.

  • Mastery of SJH Point of Sale, Sales & Catering, Inventory Management programs; ring and post billing for events, stock requisition and inventory.

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience/training in a premier banquet and conference facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, Point of Sale, Inventory Management, Sales & Catering systems

  • Analytical thinking skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Customer service driven

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Must be able to relate to all different types of people from different cultures and backgrounds. Must establish trust between customers and the company, and must give the impression of sincerity, empathy and willingness to serve the customer.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at shoulder level.
